Even advanced genealogists will benefit from this video. Robert eloquently describes insights to correctly use the “tools” of Hints and the FamilySearch Source Linker.

Sandy, are you related to George WUNDER in Lexington, KY in the 40's??
@wunderwoman7030
@wunderwoman7030 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewsallee2702 No, I am not related. My husband's Wunder family were late immigrants--Germans from Russia, who settled in western Nebraska, then eastern Wyoming in 1925. His grandfather, George Wunder, was adopted in Russia. They lived in Gnadenfeld before immigrating.

I found this instruction material extremely helpful. If there is no error correction video already available, may I suggest a series of short videos that explain the rectification of common problems? For example, I have a father who married twice, and some children have been attached to the incorrect mother. There must be many simple error scenarios.

Thank you, this and your other videos have really helped me. I have a question though. When you pulled up the 1930 census for one of your family members, towards the beginning of the video, only 1 or 2 of their children were already attached to the record. I believe you attached some of the other kids from family tree, into that record as well. My question is w/o viewing the actual record how do you know who was living in the home at that time?

Thanks so much for this video. I will go back and review this again if I go into the family tree and check for records to attach to persons in the tree. However I do have two questions: 1) What are the specific instructions for attaching sources for non-indexed records? 2) What are the specific instructions for attaching personal records such as transcripts of notes from family members? Specifically I do a lot of research on Family Search in Italian records (Latin, French and Italian) and want to know the steps to attach those. Also I have some notes on the Italian family from a great-aunt who is deceased for many years. And if her family notes correspond with other records I think they should be added as sources. Thanks so much for any direction you can give in this regard. We have specific problems with information in the tree such as two sisters (one of them my great-grandmother) being married consecutively to my great-grandfather and the tree has some of the information confused. I have the documents to make it correct (including the death certificate of the first sister -- and that information also confirmed by my great-aunt's notes). Another problem concerns the identity of my great-great grandfather who was an Abandoned Infant shortly after his birth in Italy. The Allegati of his marriage gave information that confirms this and confirms the exact month and day of his birth. They have the year of his birth incorrect because they were only estimating his age when he got married. But I have found the documents in Italian (including his birth record) to prove that it is the same person with a different name. Thanks again for any assistance you can give me in cleaning up and adding adequate sources to the tree.

I rarely add living people to hints unless very close family. On my collateral lines I could end up with too many people to track and they then become duplicates. I like to check the sources for unfinished sources to add family that have since died, were missed, incorrectly attached, or information not pulled in etc. Have you done a video on hints you cant finish because of unrelated people or unknown? I know because I asked but most people dont know.

Wow. very professional but not particularly helpful as speaker conveyed thoughts and ideas so fast for me, a newby to the scene of Family DNA Search to follow at a pace I could handle. Kudos to you - I have a long way to go to catch up to your expertise! Will have to check where I can find someone who starts at the very beginning of this journey.

It’s pretty probable when you talk like 18 century that’s completely different families used to them back then that were farmers used to have lots and lots of kids
