Got my second ACL surgery done yesterday. Seeing the comments I realize how different everyone’s experiences are. I don’t have much pain as of now and I am doing some light stretching. Will see how the next few days go. A few things that definitely help- Elevating, icing, and compression literally 24/7. If you’re taking pain meds, take stool softener. DRINK water and prune juice.

@@Daniel-ds1lo You will be nervous at the hospital but it will go by fast. Pain depends on the types of painkillers you’re given. If your tolerance to pain is high you will ride the wave with some discomfort. If your tolerance is low then it will kill you. Just be strong.

Hello, thanks for sharing your journey! I had ACL surgery done about two weeks ago and once the anesthesia wore off the pain was soo intense. I was trying not to take the oxycodone pain medicine but at the end I felt like I had no choice and finished all the bottle the doctor prescribed. It certainly has been an emotional journey and makes you realize we need to be more grateful for the small things like going to the bathroom or even cleaning or washing dishes. I start therapy tomorrow and I pray is not as painful. God bless

Famvestor, I really want to express my utmost gratitude to you. Back in September I tore my ACL and I’ve been out of work since, as a bartender it was impossible to work, and I finally got my insurance to approve surgery this past Monday. I watched all of your videos in preparation for the surgery, and I can’t express to you how much you helped me. I bought the Ossur therapy machine and I truly believe that alone was a game changer. Moreover than any product, your determination wore off on me and 3 hours post-op I was immediately onto my exercises and have stayed consistent with that. Your ability to not only do all of that without pain meds, but to have the desire to help others and record the process is out of this world. I’m so thankful for you and your wife for these videos and I wish nothing but bountiful godly blessings for you & your family. I’m almost able to do everything on my own and my motivation is through the roof, thank you again! Edit: (I watched these and your second experience which is why I was also thanking your wife)

I got my full ACL tear and total meniscus repair done a few days ago. Idk how but did not feel much pain ,no wonder I'm on meds. I saw the whole operation live on a screen as anesthesia was spinal. The most you will feel the pain is when the stitches are taken off and the knee feels stiff when you try to walk. Just keep going and you'll be there.

@@hardtrailrider Well its more than okay to be worried but i can assure you that if you stay consistent with workouts and keep pushing u will get through. I think if you operate the acl it will be better rather than relying on that partial tear especially if u are a very active person. After my surgery i just used my crutches to go to the restroom and as it concerns how much weight u put on it u should speak with ur doctor/PE. Other than that Im 4 months past now and im doing great, jogging, training, feeling good. Good luckk

From my experience it’s best to take at least the first 2 weeks off. The ACL graft and hamstrings tend to be quite weak. And moving around doing simple things like going to the toilet it’s best to have someone just watch over you and make sure you don’t topple over. Some people manage fine but I’m pretty sure the Surgeon will tell you himself to take a bit of time off at least.

I’m sure I have an acl and possibly mcl tear. It’s been 10 years several MRIs and keyhole surgery and they just tell me it’s arthritis. How difficult is this to detect? Right now I feel the torn acl has flipped and moved into and uncomfortable position and is once again prohibiting my knee from straightening. It makes me feel sick, I think my leg is spamming a bit. I need to get what ever it is to flip back to the comfortable state. Could be weeks or months till I get it to flip back.

Im non weight bearing bc of the meniscus and locked in extension and its awful. The mental part of it is crushing, not to mention the physical pain. The best change I've made so far with the pain was to switch from opioids to prescription ibuprofen--so much better then Tylenol. Good luck

I had my acl surgery yesterday morning and I have no brace unsure why you did? I can fully weight bare and extend it and I actually slept pretty well. What I will say is I chose the spinal anaesthesia rather than general and when the feeling came back the pain was immense and had me in tears 😭 but after my meds and by the evening it was really really manageable and I actually managed to sleep really well last night though I did set an alarm to wake up to take my painkillers as they recommended not letting them lapse. I just got the results of my MRI and I need surgery, I’m devastated knowing I won’t be able to play for a while but it is what it is. How long after your injury did you have surgery? And were you walking before surgery or crutches
@Famvestor
@Famvestor 2 жыл бұрын
So I was always able to walk before surgery, after a few weeks of my body healing itself and swelling going down I could even run on it no problem, but the problem was before the surgery I kept tweaking it and it would swell up. I didn't get surgery for like 3 years, and in that time I probably tweaked my knee every other month. I needed crutches after surgery for like the first few days. I think I started running like after 3 months. But I didnt start actively playing sports again till like 15 months.

Later when I landed from a high jump on a trek, Fulll ACL tear. Got a full reconstruction and Both Medial and Lateral Meniscus Posterior Horn repaired. Was back to walking normally in 20 days exact. Close to zero pain. Only pain was when I pushed myself too hard one day 1 week in and the swell grew a bit. Otherwise A-OK. And my anasthesia was spinal. It took a day to wear off and another for my head to snap out of it completely. My advice is to take a lot of fluids eventhough the trips to the bathroom is cumbersome.
