Thanks for the demo man. Never heard of these but I've been looking for a fanned fret guitar. I would think about getting this one and maybe putting some better pickups in.

That’s deffs a good shout. It would also benefit from a new nut, and maybe some fret filing. The building blocks are there to make it pretty decent for not a lot of cash!

@@kaisound868 I'm dipping my toes into multiscale and 8 strings with the new 2020 models as soon as my package arrives. Hopefully it'll sound half as good as your 7 string variety there haha :)

how's it, assuming you did buy it? any signs of neck warping or something alike?

@@romanthegambler6966 no signs of warping..the only actual detail that I can point out is the nut. Sometimes you might touch it with your hand while playing bars on the first fret, but I assume that's because of being fanned frets.

@@FilipeGomesDrummer yeah, that's multiscale for you. Thanks a lot! I was drooling over this guitar for a while, but my multiscale Harley Benton progressive has got an awful neck warp after some time bc of the scarf joint on the neck, the tech said it was almost beyond saving

@@romanthegambler6966 I bought mine for 250€ used. Honestly I don't have any complaints, but keep in mind that I'm primarily a drummer and only play guitar as a hobby. You might have more demanding expectations

Hey dude, I think so yeah! It would need to be an offset design though due to the Fan Fret element. Though my first change would be the nut and tuners for sure.

I don't get why they changed the headstock shape to the ugly reverse one they have now, and also changed from passive to active pickups. The actives they use now aren't even made for fanfrets and they also sound terrible. I really wish I had picked one of these up before they were discontinued! They might not be perfect, but they can be one hell of a mod-platform!

There seems to be a lot of inconsistency with these guitars. I've actually owned the 8 string version of this (twice as the first had to be returned because it was in such bad condition), and I also own this exact guitar. I've heard some people say what good experiences they've had, but my personal experience was that all the HB guitars I've owned had abysmal fret jobs. The 7 string I got, which is identical to the one in this video, arrived with dead spots all over the neck, super sharp fret edges and about half of the neck wasn't properly sanded. It wasn't at all playable. The first 8 string I received was quite genuinely the worst quality guitar I've ever played. The frets were lifting out of the board, the nut had been installed in a gaping chasm of a slot and there were chips taken out all over the fret board, and the body had been sprayed before it had been properly sanded and so was incredibly rough. The replacement they sent me was more in line with the 7 string I received - better but still not good. If someone is lucky enough to get one of these that is actually properly finished, I'm sure they're killer guitars, but my experience to most people would be to steer well clear! The price point seems killer, but when you factor in a proper fret job and set up, you can easily add well over an extra £100 - £150 to the price. Also, when you consider, the only way you're getting replacement pickups is to either have them custom made for the 10 degree fan, or have to have to rip the base plates from the HB pickups and swap it on to new pickups, these guitars are a bit of a gamble.

How are the hardware on these? Do the locking tuners work well? Does it hold tuning pretty good?

Tuning stability wasn’t the best, but I do think this was the nut at fault. Tuners felt fine but nothing special.

Drop G# I believe. So whole guitar down one semi tone, and then drop the Low B to match the A.

Would this thing be comfortable if you have small girly hands?

Ruok not massively, but I think hand size is not the most important thing in playing a 7 string. Mine are an ok size, and I don’t feel that’s a huge benefit for example!
