Fanconi Anemia - Mnemonic - Pancytopenia - Bone Marrow Disease - Hematology, Pathology. Fanconi anemia (not to be confused with Fanconi syndrome) is a genetic problem “Autosomal recessive” that affects many organs especially the bone marrow causing aplastic anemia (with is actually a pancytopenia).
Pancytopenia: all blood cell lines (Red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets) are decreased causing anemia, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia.
In this disease, you have low set ear, deafness, cafe-au-lait spots (skin hypopigmentation).

Medicosis, these patients already not have enough WBC. Why do we need to give them immunosuppressive medication? Can EPO help with Fanconi anemia?

My sister died at 16 from FA. It missed my next sis and I have it. I wasn't supposed to live passed 13. Here I am at 43.... Scared because I now have issues with health, diabetes, etc. Should I kill myself or somehow deal with it?

Why do we give immunosuppressant in fanconi anemia?? As it is not autoimmune...?? Already patient is immunocompromised and all blood lines are low..then immunosuppressant is not going to worsen it?? @MedicosisPerfectionalis

Fun fact: not all of these symptoms are present in my body. I have fanconi anaemia and I'm about to have a bone marrow transplant. I have no deformities whatsoever. I'm an interesting case.

Perfect video! A slight suggestion if I may, Ashkenazi Jews, which are Jews that are originally from Eastern Europe, don't marry their relatives usually. Although that was pretty much the case in the past, this doesn't actually happen nowadays.

ATG AS IMMUNOSUPPRESSIVE THERAPY IS EFFECTIVE FOR ACQUIRED APLASTIC ANAEMIA, NOT IN FANCONI ANAEMIA ; IT IS ONLY GIVEN BEFORE HSCT AS CYTOREDUCTION. WHERE IN ACQUIRED APLASTIC ANAEMIA AS DEFINITE TREATMENT OPTION. AND ROLE OF GCSF ALSO CONTROVERSIAL, BECAUSE IT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE, WHERE STEM CELLS ARE ALREADY LOW.
