I love Dana K White’s methods. I used to get overwhelmed by the mess when decluttering. One item at a time. Progress and only progress. Trash first! 💕

I always wanted nice matching hangers in my closet and I finally broke down and got myself some. Now they are my "container." I would rather do the 'one in one out' than have to put a hanger in my closet that does not match. As for putting value on things we own, realtors will tell you that 90% of the time people think homes are worth more as sellers, than they do as buyers. It's an ownership perspective.

Dana is my absolute favorite. She's so consistent. She has such actionable steps to take. I love watching her lose her train of thought and then coming back to it, it's so relatable😂. Thanks for sharing more of her tips and introducing her to more people.

I adore Dana. I used to be a big Marie Kondo fan but now I do it Dana's way.

There have been studies showing that owning/touching something (or being told/imagining you own it or are touching it), or makes you value said item more highly than someone who had never owned/touched or been told/imagined they owned or touched the very same item. See "mere ownership effect", "loss aversion", and so much "imagine yourself in this place/doing this activity/owning this thing" marketing. No wonder letting go is so hard!

Jars. Shoe boxes. Plastic cups from events. Unsolicited Samples. Coffee mugs as gifts (unless right size and then one in one out). I could go on and on. 😂

Plastic bags! I was a plastic bag hoarder. I use them for all sorts of things. Now I keep a small amount and take the other to be recycled or donate them to the place I take donations to be reused. This has helped so much!

I always get rid of the last edition ..... of a magazine, newspaper, flyer, coupon etc. When the new one arrives.

Any gift I or family receive that we dont like or want or i cant see a place for it i let it go immediately into donation box including plants and i let it go that week. This has been huge in keeping decluttering down. I realise I need to let go of Pretty boxes that are packaging but its so pretty but i will never honestly use them i Also i like to let go of gift bags i dont like so i would not pass them on. I pop them in my donation box and use them for breakable donations. Little cloth bags that sheets/ hand bags/Pjs come in…. Into donations box to wrap Breakable donations and gift tissue into donation box to wrap breakable donations Cards for birthdays etc i like to decide that week if i will keep them or recycle them ❤

I read cards that come in...and then most of them get discarded immediately. Also, baby stuff goes as soon as it's not useful...except a small tote of the "keep forevers."

My definition of clutter is any item that is stting out in a place it doesn't belong.

I love DKW for the container concept. Sometimes she comes off a bit condescending, like instead of using "we," she preaches a bit. But total genius. Maybe just not as "Let's" rather than "Do this." Like more pressure.
