Never Have These 15 Items in Your Home (If you HATE Cleaning!)
Whether you eliminate these items completely or just REDUCE the inventory, getting rid of specific items in your home can make cleaning a LOT easier! Today I want to share with you the items that I've either decluttered completely, or significantly reduced to make cleaning my house take less time and energy than ever. What items do YOU think contribute to more work and hassle?? Thanks for watching!

I have never had a junk drawer because I have limited drawers in my kitchen. Do those items truly belong in a kitchen? I have a space for a few pens where we put our mail (other pens are kept in our office desk), extra screws nails and other hardware go in a plastic container with our tools in the storage room, batteries have a shelf in the cupboard in the laundry room, I have a space in a cupboard for plastic wrap and tinfoil, tape is in the kids’ craft cupboard. I grew up with two junk drawers in my parent’s kitchen, but I’ve never missed having one in my own kitchen. It seems like the spot to put things that don’t have a home. Hope these ideas are helpful!

Maybe instead of calling it a junk drawer, call it a utility drawer. Relabeling it differently could potentially change your mindset about how you utilize your drawer system.

I’ve done that before. It still is what it is,…a drawer full of junk.😢

@@user-yn1ke3wr4k then I would change my mindset "no junk is allowed in this house." Because everything that lives in this space we call home needs to have a purpose and be useful. Everything in our house costs us in time and space, nothing that is deemed junk in our house deserves to take up our time and space or bandwidth. We are too busy as it is.

Yes, it is a utility drawer! It’s mostly needed. Where else does a missing piece go? You know as soon as you toss it, you’ll discover where it goes and it will be unplaceable. I’m 76, I know better.

Do not wait until every dish you have is dirty until you do the dishes. Do them every day. That means wash, dry and put way. You will find that you daily use way less than you think. Also laundry at least every time you think that there is one full load. That will depend on how many people are in your house. Every person makes at least one pair of socks, one pair of underwear and one shirt minimum every day. Add possible towels or other clothes and that could make one load every day. When I say laundry that includes wash, dry, fold, and put away. With the laundry and dishes done you will feel so much less stresses. Time it it really does not take that long and you can do other things while the was is doing it's thing. i have done these two things regularly for ever and it kept my house manageable.

I agree about the toy bin organizer. I had one when my kids were younger and it just didn’t work. Toys never stayed sorted and stuff would fall on the floor. Also, I think seeing all their toys is overwhelming for kids and then they just dump stuff out. I really try to limit knickknacks because dusting them is annoying plus it makes an area look cluttered.

I got plantation shutters for my windows. It is another thing to dust but they are so much easier to adjust to control light, that I still think they are worth it.

As I've gotten older, I hate knick knacks sitting around. Who wants to dust a bunch of stuff? Not me. 😂 Yes....hate the dog and cat hair clinging to certain clothes. If they are good clothes, I put them on before I leave the house and take them off when i get home...no sitting down. I like my junk drawer. It's not junk. It's a home for those odd things that don't have another place to go, and it's very much organized. 😊 I understand your shoe issues. We don't have a closet by our front door, so it drives me nuts with shoes/jackets. However, thank goodness my bedroom is close as I'll put my stuff in my closet there. There's just 2 adults here, thank God. I don't know what I'd do if I had kids here.

You can have a plastic or net bag and hang on a hook for the bathing toys.. Very easy to pick up after the bath and let it dry in that net bag. Children love to play in the bath tube, so it isn´t a huge pick up/ cleaning...

With your junk drawer I recommend getting a rack thing that hangs under a pantry shelf for your baking paper and cling film. We got one and I put those things, along with the rolling pin and stick blender and it's been amazing!

I like to just stick large plants in the shower to rinse off all the dust. It works for fake and real plants. For the fake ones, I wrap the bottom with a plastic bag and hold that part outside the shower.

Have you tried a drawer organizer for the rubber bands and batteries? Then putting it in the laundry room or another area like the garage where you can access it easily but not taking up space that you need for daily items.

I’m confused. Do you mean cleaning as in dusting etc or do you mean tidying? I know that in the US to clean something often means to tidy it. For example, in the UK to clean the toys would mean to put them in the washing machine or dishwasher.

Those of us (Americans) who care about language know rhe difference between tidying, decluttering, and cleaning. Three very different concepts. Unfortunately our education is somewhat lacking.

Instead of dusting each leaf of your plant, they REALLLLLY appreciate it if you give them a shower literally IN your shower/bathtub (cool water to lukewarm at warmest for almost all house plants, and more strightly lukewarm to baby bottles temperature at warmest for tropical plants)!!! They LOVEEEEEEE this treatment every once in a while, especially once every month if you can spare the time and attention. Just make sure that you 1) have a pot AND external pot decor that are waterproof (some people put there internal waterproof pots inside a basket or woven type decor) 2) coordinate this shower with your watering schedule so you don't over water them (they should have dry soil when you put them in the shower) 3) after the shower, let them sit in the shower/bathtub for a few hours to drip not on your carpet or floor before moving back to wherever it is they normally live :)

don't dust the FLF. just toss it in the shower once in awhile, or take it out and spray with the hose. Pillows are making good memories and should stay. Couches need pillows.
