Fandango made 91,000 dollars at the box office! I stumbled upon it on HBO late in 1985. It has become one of my all time favorites.

It has recouped that money many times over the years because it IS that good and generations can relate.

Hard to believe this movie is pushing 40 years old. It's one of my all time favorites and if you asked 1,000 people if they ever saw it one might say yes

It’d been a while since I’d seen Fandango all the way through, but I bought the blu ray, finally got around to watching it last night… Wow, the film is more powerful to me than it’s ever been. I’ve always believed the ending was just beautiful, If downcast… I really appreciate exactly why the ending is so excellent, touching; because the rest of the film does a great job building up to, and EARNING the ending. I also had forgotten that the late, great Glenne Headly played the lady doing Truman’s laundry 😂

I’m such a sucker for these romantic scenes with post-hippie-era songs, It’s Too Late is used brilliantly, as is Can’t Find My Way Home, as is Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting... I’m born in 1969, and growing up in the 80s, sometimes it seemed like half the films released were about Vietnam in some fashion, so it was a BIG question that still lingered in people’s minds. Fandango is about Vietnam as well, hanging over The Groovers’ heads like the Sword Of Damocles, especially Costner. It’s an original tact that works, afaiac.

Nice post! I was born in '68 and love the song choices for this gem of a movie for the same reasons.

That is deep if you get a chance. Look up the meaning to the Cars song Drive. I too look for the hiding meaning of things.
