I am really happy that FansToys is finally tackling the original car bots and truck bots. For me the transformers that came before the movie are a LOT more meaningful to me. As a child I wasn't into the Bots that came out with the movie and after it nearly as much as the ones before it. I really loved that the vehicles looked like vehicles I saw on the road as a kid. I am very pleased with all the minibots and autobots that FansToys has released so far. I am especially excited to see Streak, Smokescreen and Wheeljack for the cars and Powerglide, Windcharger, and Pipes for the minibots. I really hope they use their Cliffjumper mould to do Goldbug (not Bumblebee or Bumblebee with his G1 battle mask but actual Goldbug). That Cliffjumper looks really great. Thanks for the review. It looks great. If I wanted Mirage this is definitely the one I would get.

It's technically the second Autobot car from FT (even further down if you count pieces like Brawn/Outback, Hoist/Trailbreaker, and Huffer). Blurr was the first.

It will be interesting to see the versus video. I've got the TE and I think it is great. I can see a few areas where the FT has it beat (namely waist rotation, which is pretty limited on the TE), but I can also see a few where the TE is ahead (namely that is has slightly better range in the shoulders, head, elbows and it does have an ab crunch). If you read the accent color as light blue rather than silver than FT has the slight edge in accuracy, but it's close because like most of the G1Transformers cartoon, the elements of each character can change from episode to episode or even scene to scene. But I think both are great options for this character.

Great review and can’t wait to get him! Really looking forward to the versus. I have the TE and always thought he was too plasticity and needed more paint but good overall. Only thing I don’t like about the FT Mirage is the gap under the hands. It’s so unlike FT to do something like that. I also liked the light blue metallic that was on the promo photos better but I understand why they changed.

Great review! Still going to switch with my TE though. Just something about him I prefer.

My copy arrived today and he looks and feels great. I don’t mind the gap in the forearm as it’s barely visible. Iv decided not to extend the post the middle attaches to, I think it looks cleaner and Iv also rotated the wheels on the legs around to give the figure more visual queues. I’m keeping the wider head on as I have MMC Sphinx with the narrow head. Overall I think they’ve done a good job here by no means perfect. With the upcoming release of Jive I’m really excited to see what FT do with other car bots

i am really looking forward to receiving this figure. I still have, and really enjoy, Sphinx, but I don't mind having more then one version of a character. Especially one as unique as Mirage. He was always one of my favorite toys as a kid. Thanks Sony. Looking forward to the vs.

Maybe it’s just me, but the creaking sound you get with Fanstoys figures while transforming them always annoyed me. I assume it’s due to the stiffness and tightness of their plastics.

He's not the first Autobot car from fanstoys!! They made a Hound. Didn't they also make a Brawn, and Huffer? Those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head.

Beautiful figure, feet articulation sucks. All in all I love it. Let’s hope Jazz isn’t as limited as this guy was.
