As a kid I was allowed to stay up late on Friday nights to watch Fantasy Football League. Good times. LMAO the Julie Goodyear blimp! 😬

Such a revelation - i didn't think much of this as a teenager back in the day, but watching it now... The difference in attitude is so vast compared to any of today's shows. Now there's this constant palpable tension of even having two seconds of dead air and most of today's presenters are so petrified of loosing your attention that they practically shout down the camera at you, as if to say 'like me, like me, like me!!!!'... 'must be a hit show, must be a hit show'. You feel so passive and the instinct is to recoil. But these guys were so chill, they made the viewer 'come to them'. They weren't so desperate, ultimately. Also much funnier than i remember. I miss the nineties.

I don't remember Baddiel and Skinner's sofa being as small as that. Ah, Sue Tully. a much underappreciated bit of alright.

Sonny Pike retired at age 18 without ever playing professionally. This show on the other hand was brilliant, I used to laugh myself silly at it while watching on a black and white TV while my parents were asleep as it was on late, only to burst out laughing and get a bollocking from dad for waking him up!.

and you could joke without someone being "offended"
@maskedbadass68024 жыл бұрын
@@webm8 I pray that all the videos on youtube about increased crime rate due to unchecked immigration and a police force that arrests people for what they post online are exaggerating. If they're true and Europe is being ruined because of fears of offending people that would be the saddest way for the West to fall. We certainly have similar problems here in the States.

The PL back in the 90’s was fantastic, before the clubs became extensions of foreign billionaires massive egos.

Having adored this show in the 90s. It was absolute crap 🤔😂😂

Time hasn't been kind on it. Skinner was the only one with relevant talent. The only thing in my opinion that still seems good is the 'Phoenix From The Flames' segment - particularly in the World Cup '98 series; some great writing there.

A segment based on Julie Goodyear and the Goodyear blimp. so utterly stupid its piss funny

Both hawksbee & Jacobs were writers on the show. Hawksbee was also a writer on harry hills tv burb

Why have people given this a thumbs-up without knowing if it's true or not? Paul had nothing to do with the show until Fantasy World Cup in 1998, where he was tasked with watching a load of old football to find some funny bits. He also appeared in a few sketches. Andy Jacobs was The Series Producer for every episode bar the ones in 2004. They both worked on the show in 2004 in a very minor capacity.

I was living abroad in the 1990s. Was this ever funny? It's almost unwatchable in the 2020s
