To color my papers, I use construction paper (I have a whole bunch of leftovers from my kids when they were going to school), and it only takes a few pieces to color a whole blender of pulp.

Thinking about it, dyes are just watered down pigment powder. It makes sense it would take soooo much more dye than using a colored (pre dyed & dried) piece of paper to tint the new pulp!

This is the first time I found your site in any of your videos omg I have a garden and I have a hard time getting rid of my dried flower petals and I keep them in dark places so they all have their color mostly and now I have something to do with them I'm thrilled can't wait to watch more videos Thank you for making it sound doable . I will let you know where my new inspiration takes me. 💚

WOnderful video thanks so much. I've tried a little test with platic canvas as the netting layer and then adding a layer of the thin fabric used to cover garden plants to protect them from frost. Im getting the hang of putting them out on another surface to dry and its going great. Thanks for your inspiring videos. The ones I made directly onto the plastic canvas, I pressed onto tshirt that was on top of a towel to minise the water. Then peeled off the tshirt so it stayed on the platic mesh. the arir flow was great and the paper dried 'flat to itself' and has the grid texture of the platic canvas. Interesting for mixed media. I needed MORE pulp than I had but its fun to play and experiment.

I think after the paper has dried, you can apply Gesso to the paper. It will prevent any bleeding

Watching you manipulating the fabric you're using makes me think about this winter "veil" used in gardening to protect your plants from frost. Would that work? I haven't tried (yet) because I only have one blender and I don't want to use it for craft and food, I also don't have a deckle (I'll def. checl out your videos on how to make paper without these!)

hi, I love your videos! I want my paper to come out white. I know darker color paper that i turn into pulp, all my paper is coming out dark grey. What can i do to dye my paper white? thank you
@shacee
@shacee 4 ай бұрын
i dont know if you can add anything to make it white. i usually use off cuts with no prints/ink, plain bank paper. i reckon it is the ink on the paper you’re recycling that’s making it gray.

Do the flowers HAVE to be dried? Can they be freshly picked? Thank you.
@elliotmydude
@elliotmydude Жыл бұрын
You absolutely can use fresh materials and it will not rot as long as it's dried fully by the end of the process (as all paper is). Paper can be made entirely of organic materials such as leaves, grass, and corn husks and they do NOT rot or mold.

I've never tried cotton pulp yet, but I've watched most professional paper makers use it! I think it helps a lot if I you want to make consistent sheets! Would love the chance to try it if I had access to it!🧡
