No need to appologise for taking an interview mate. It's part of the build up for me. It added to the occassion. You put yourself out there to get your voice heard and to share your love for our club. Thank you Terry for being so passionate. I know this result hurts, it was always going to hurt, we all knew we were most likely going to be turned over but it's a different feeling when it actually happens. Am I disappointed yes, but hoenstly, it doesn't hurt anywhere as near as us being relegated to league one, nothing compares to that for me. We were shite, their quality showed. I have a few thoughts brewing because I feel our fanbase and club on many levels are very divided and aren't quite on the same page or moving in the right direction but I hope for that to change. I'd love to be able to ask the whole fanbase some questions in the near future. Anyway, here's a long post on my thoughts: *LONG POST* I've got a few things to say about the game, the club and our fanbase. Don't worry this isn't a depressing message, actually one of hope and resilience. First of all, this is what was expected, unfortunately. The gulf in class was clear to see before the game. But we all hoped because we love Sunderland, and that's something that I found really galvanising today. It's that love that we say will kill us but, actually, it's that love we have for our club that will save us. We all must channel that love in the right direction, as a united fanbase and club. Yes, the lads could have done better. Yes, the tactics weren't there. The thing is, I still think some of those lads tried, they tried despite being naive, nervous and clearly taken aback by the occasion. That'll all be okay, in time, only if we learn from this. It was a hard lesson to learn but a needed one. Not only a lesson for the players, the coaches, the board, and the owners but also for us, the fans. We have some quality players in the making here and it's going to take some time for them to grow, develop and become stronger. However, we need to show more patience with some of these young players, yet demand more from the club both on and off the pitch. We can demand more without being toxic if we all know what the goal and ambitions are, not only for our club, ourselves but also for the city of Sunderland. The game: We were too slow in our press after the initial frantic 15 minutes of the game and allowed them to bully us. We were scared. Slow on the counter. Slow out of and in possession. We were sloppy with our passes and made naive poor decisions throughout the game. We didn't make any subs because who would have changed the game? We only had young players on that bench too. That's not the player's fault at all and I think some put their hearts on their sleeves, even if their performances were poor still. We couldn't cope with their press, it was super high and fast. We panicked and had no plan B. We all knew this would be the undoing. Newcastle knew all they had to do was force us into the same mistakes we make in most games. I don't blame the lads, they're just trying to fulfil what they've been trained to do. Can we blame the coaches? Maybe but honestly, the coaches are working with young lads who may never make the cut at the higher level. There's of course a lot more we can discuss, we showed them too much respect, but I think we were very mindful of the fact if we countered with numbers we'd have been destroyed when we inevitably would lose the ball. All we can do is learn from this. What this game has shown is that we are not ready for the Premier League. We lack experience in key areas of the pitch. That experience we need is through the spine of the team. If we get that experience, not only will we perform better from game to game but the players will develop faster and become far more intelligent players. Only by playing with and against better players can players develop faster and stronger. We lack strength too in the middle of the park. These are of course things we all know, however by seeing it in such clear terms, in front of our board they realise that we tweak in the model is needed. The club: The club need to be more flexible with the model, we all know that but today showed it is necessary. We need to genuinely be more ruthless as a club. We need to get this right. We all need to understand that it is going to take some time to get right but we will get it right. The club need to sort out the off-field issues. Ticket office, Ticketmaster and customer service need to improve tenfold. The commercial side needs to be so much better. We need to increase our commercial operations, prospects and opportunities. We need to grow faster. We need to make sure that our store is stocked properly. That our websites are updated, and function smoothly. We need to have more coherent branding in our sites, socials, stores, stadium etc (they have improved in recent years but it's far behind where we need them to be. The stadium needs updating, both inside and outside. The bars need updating. The roof needs cleaning. The PA System needs updating. Outside the stadium needs to be utilised better and create more fan-centric areas to enhance each supporter's experience. The board need to sort their house out and find out how the issues of the run-up to the derby unfolded and find the person or persons responsible and get rid of and hire someone who can genuinely operate this ship to a very high standard. The Fans: We were a class act. Today the atmosphere was great until the second goal, which I understand but we all need to pull together as a fanbase. I am proud of how we acted in the stands for the vast majority of the game today, so please don't take this as a slight at you. We need more of that atmosphere, EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. No matter how poor we may be playing, we need to back these young lads. We need to show the world and potential new investors of who and what we are. We the fans are the only people who can drive change. We are the ones that have more power than we think. This goes not only for the fanbase as a whole but for us as individuals and as a city. We are the only people who are going to save ourselves, the club and the city. I want a full house. I want people to stay to the bitter end. I want us to be loud and proud for the whole 90 minutes. For every game. Spirit of 37 did a great job I feel with a limited budget. Our fanbase needs to back them and they need to back us. They need to be open to constructive criticism and help, not only with setting up the display in the stadium but with creative ideas for displays, flags or anything that will enhance the atmosphere. We can make things even more professional and today was a great start towards that in our display. We packed the stadium out today, we must do that every single week. There are corners of our fanbase that dislike the displays and more so The spirit of 37. There's a lack of trust with them and questions being asked about whether they pocketed money etc as there are images circulating that don't look great. I love displays but I think they can be improved both in quality but also in terms of communication with the fanbase. We as fans must demand more from the club too, we can remain fair and do this without being toxic. We must be constructive. We as a fanbase, club, board, coaches and players must all move in the right direction together. If our board can't fund us then they need to find investors who can, at the right stages of our club's rebuild. Today hurts, but not as much as going to League One. We love Sunderland. We love the club. We love the city. We love the people. This club, this city can be everything we have ever dreamed of because we all know the potential we have and it's about time that we realise that potential. Let's be demanding but let's be fair about it. Let's stop accepting mediocrity. We want to see our club and city play host to Premier League matches we want our club to play European games one day. To compete and not just make up the numbers. We can have that someday but we need to work at it. We need to stop blaming others and start fixing this ourselves. In recent years we have been moving in the right direction and we need to make sure we maintain that direction. We need to maintain that clear vision of what this club is and can be. I have so much more to say and I will once I can articulate it. We have a shared passion, one that burns deep. We have stuck with this club through the worst period of its history and we will see it at its best someday. We have withstood the most fucking shit for so fucking long. It's time we stepped the fuck up. We are a proud people. We are a proud club. We are Sunderland. We love you, Sunderland.

Beale clearly freezes when the pressure comes - just like v Coventry. He didn’t bring a sub on until 82 mins. He has no plan B. We clearly couldn’t out play NUFC on the deck, so Beale should have put two tall lads on up front and get some aerial balls in the box. Jury still out on him. Can see him out the door when the season’s out. I reckon the other Championship teams will get after us more now.

Each NUFC goal was from a Sunderland (mad) mistake. Expectations were too high for a win. Rusyn never got a shot, Jobe looked completely lost (has been for a while), Clark was targeted and was not allowed to play, our midfield looked out classed and that was where we lost the game. We need to look at the positives and move forward. What a great game played by our young team. We played really well in the 2nd half, Pritchard looked our best player in their half, Ba looked good when he came on (did not expect that). Trai Hume looked like a premiership player, Ballard (slightly off pace) but looked a premiership player, The ref was probably the best I have seen, did not over react to a few of our challenges (look at Gordon's shirt at the end of the game, ripped to shreds). Not a good result and want anyone wanted, but, what a great derby game with a brilliant atmosphere.

Ballard's own goal wasn't a mad mistake. In that position with the ball whipped in like that was was he meant to do? He's just got to try and hook it away but with the pace of the ball etc very difficult. If he doesn't put that in his own net isak taps it in regardless. I also didn't think any of your players looked like premiership players. Pritchard was probably your best. That Hume lad got ran ragged by Gordon, but tbh Newcastle were poor. Just the usual as t the moment. Injuries, players carrying knocks, bad form. Just a combo of things that not clicking at the moment. Best time for you to play us. You'd need more experience down the spine of your side to compliment the youth.

I appreciate your enthusiasm Terry, the reality is the gap between the divisions so so big. You have to have the money to spend and you just don’t have it. You can criticize your team all you like but it was a case of men against boys mate. From a Geordie I want you to come up to the top division because the northeast needs this derby. I have to agree that Sunderland didn’t get themselves up for this one and that’s disappointing. Even my dad who was a black cat through and through would have agreed that it just wasn’t going to be your day. Get better soon.

Own goal was unavoidable, if hed not got a foot to it Isak would have scored anyway. The "mistake" was 100% caused by Almirons pressure, quick thinking and pace, and the penalty was conceded to stop Gordon getting through on goal. Make all the excuses you want but 0-3 was a let off for Sunderland. Edit: Question, do Sunderland nick all the Gerodies cants? Did I really just hear "sunderland boot boys...??!!" I'm very disappointed with that performance, aside from Pritchard, Rusyn and Ballard aside from the own goal and penalty were the only ones that actually turned up, everybody else either went missing or just played for themselves and in a game like this is simply not good enough, but that's what u get when u have a team full of kids, this model is not the answer cos even if we do get promoted we'll get batterd cos it'll be like today men and against boy's and I don't want that, I'm hurting after today cos all I wanted to see was some effort and fight but I only got that from 3 players, most of our players are similar to the board where they clearly don't get how big of game this was and in the end our young side got a footballing lesson, Beale was crap today as well or Speakman whoever picks the team and makes subs I don't know cos we only make 1 change in the last 5 minutes and it's Ba for Rusyn, what a surprise, 3 nil down to our bitter rivals and we finish the game with a false 9, I'm sick of it I really am, KLD show some ambition and bring in some quality, no more kids cos if we do forget about promotion, I want change cos I'm sick of mediocrity, we're massive club we should be in the prem and on a similar level to them lot but we're not we're miles behind that lot and it really hurts, I'm not happy cos I was expecting better today

@@ThaneME2 If you were to buy a majority share in a business, knowing that you are really only stabilising your investment in the business first to then possibly seek gains subsequently, is this a risk? Even if you have a million pounds or a billion pounds, would you spend a shit load of your own money believing that you will not lose it and will see an immediate return? Don't be so naive mate! SAFC are doing it right unlike the blind skunks up the road with their ignorance on human rights atrocities. Blood money and still not winning shit! SAFC and the fans need to settle down and appreciate the owners who have the money and will find the time to spend correctly, unlike their predecessors. I can't believe we are craving the Prem already with a team that is inexperienced and bereft of any ideas on the pitch. Did you watch the game today? We were shit! I have passion and love SAFC, but I thought very hard before buying a ticket to see our biggest fucking rivals, fresh from the Champions league, turn up and give us a game! Realist! I shouted at fans for clapping Dan Neil off the pitch when he was sent off in the Boro game! I'm not stupid, but I am patient. Just wait and see, believe in what the owners are doing and stop thinking that you can throw money at it, it just doesn't work. The players need to step up and we need a seasoned striker and someone in midfield like Dennis Wise, Charlie Adam or Shiqri. Best, Paul SAFC!

Outmuscled and outclassed in Midfield. Faired better in second half with Joelinton going off allowing Pritchard to drive forward a couple of times - but other than that we were starved of any real possession and opportunities. Like you, frustrated that we seemed to let the occasion get to us and feel the Mags probably had another gear that wasn’t needed. Other than the one save from Pritchard we didn’t really question their 2nd choice keeper. Thought Ballard did okay tbh - horrible ball for a defender to deal with and Isak was right there had he not got to it. Penalty a bit rash - but Gordon’s pace causes Hume and O’Nien problems as well. Just not at the races today Terry - but we take it on the chin and hopefully the young lads learn from this experience.

Hi Terry, first there is a massive gap in class, and we are all aware of this, but also poor tactic's here today, there was no pressing at all in the first half as Sunderland stood 2 mile off the Newcastle players and let them have the ball free of charge, defence not comfortable playing out from the back, no plan B for our goalkeeper to find a hold up player upfield, why ? because we have not got one. I thought Ballard was our best player in the first half he was right up for this game, the own goal was just unlucky, but unfortunatly he saw red second half, Newcastle did not look as good without Joelinton, and Pritchard looked to have fight and I thought he had a decent second half. Sunderland have got to put this game behind them and give all for the rest of the season. Watched the live Boro v Villa game on BBC, Michael Carrick did his homework and showed us all exactly what a defence/team should look like, when up against it.

I came here after the draw. I'm a Mag so obviously I'm buzzin. I was there yesterday in the Black Cat Bar. Very nice hospitality, so cheers. Look, the better team won and so we should. If Ballard hadn't tried to intercept the ball, Isak would've tapped it in. Don't blame the lad for trying. If it had flown over the bar he would've been a hero. Lack of homework on Miggy. I love Miggy because of exactly what he did. He NEVER gives up. The speed he covered the ground to close down and nick the ball is typical of him. The penalty? Just crazy and reckless. Anyway, I stand by what I said last time I came on. Hurry up and get promoted because I miss the derbies. I'm sure I enjoyed yesterday more than you but it was special. Only Tyne Wear derbies are that good, the Boro doesn't count imo. Look for the bright side as hard as it is now - you can concentrate on promotion so we can do this again and again.

I've said it a couple of times this season Terry, we need someone effective in midfield. We just don't have it at the moment. Not only do we need a seasoned striker but we need a workhorse in the centre. Ekwah is played in the wrong position and where Dan Neil was today is beyond me. And someone like Jobe, not even 20 years old, he should be running his heart out for this club. He had some terrible touches today and he is not ready. I hope he comes good, but he was not reading Pritchard at all. The two teams today were worlds apart in terms of possession. Hate to say it (but full respect to a manager who I wanted at SAFC last season before TM arrived) Eddie Howe must be the next England manager. I bet you a thousand quid Championship teams will be studying this game today of HOW to keep Jackie Clarke at bay. Bad luck, but let's move on to the next game. Hope you get better soon mate! Paul
