If Southgate rotated the squad properly and never gave certain players a guaranteed place in the starting lineup, perhaps there'd be a bit of a dynamic wrt to players stepping up when coming on to prove a point. This is why England won’t win anything . Instead of trying to force all your good players on the pitch and expecting it to just work out , how about you find the right balance for the team . It’s clear you need pace on the wings , so how about you play Gordon on the left . It’s clear that Jude and Foden can’t play together, no matter how much your force it , 3 games are enough , so you drop one to the bench ( most likely Jude ) and bring them on later It’s clear England lack a tempo setter and someone who can comfortably receive the ball from the keeper and plays it forward , so play Wharton along with Rice . That gives Rice the freedom to play that “Kante” role to break up play and press like he has done for Arsenal when his had Jorghino or Partey next to him It’s clear that Kyle Walker offers nothing and hangs on the ball too long when players make runs , so you drop him and play Trent , who’s one of our best passer and creator . and finally, tell Harry Kane he needs to stop dropping in and stay forward and let the midfielders do their job
