If Southgate rotated the squad properly and never gave certain players a guaranteed place in the starting lineup, perhaps there'd be a bit of a dynamic wrt to players stepping up when coming on to prove a point. Palmer's elite but I bet he also came on with something to prove to Safegate. Kane has no reason to bother putting in a performance beyond "wearing the shirt" - he's knows he's going to start, even though Watkins should get a chance.

Yes, he absolutely should. He has more G/A than any other premier league player. He did that in one of the worst chelsea teams ever. He played well in the friendlies. And what he showed in his cameo was something no one else seems to. He's not scared to make those killer passes. He ALWAYS finds space. He runs at players. He just always looks dangerous. How can you not start someone like this in a team that's struggling to break teams down? But the thing is, Southgate is like a broken old man stuck in his ways. He has his favourites and he won't change. He'll happily fail claiming these guys are young and don't have enough experience. Despite seeing how fearless these young guns are.

Palmer in from the beginning of the year for me, what a talent.

Hook Bellingham for Gordon. Play Foden in the middle. Palmer out wide and this team will be TOTALLY transformed. I like the idea of Saka in at fullback too.

Bellingham in that number 8, Foden 10 with Gordon on the left and Palmer on the right. For Christ sake is is painfully obvious. Southgate will have the same 11 haha

This is why England won’t win anything . Instead of trying to force all your good players on the pitch and expecting it to just work out , how about you find the right balance for the team . It’s clear you need pace on the wings , so how about you play Gordon on the left . It’s clear that Jude and Foden can’t play together, no matter how much your force it , 3 games are enough , so you drop one to the bench ( most likely Jude ) and bring them on later It’s clear England lack a tempo setter and someone who can comfortably receive the ball from the keeper and plays it forward , so play Wharton along with Rice . That gives Rice the freedom to play that “Kante” role to break up play and press like he has done for Arsenal when his had Jorghino or Partey next to him It’s clear that Kyle Walker offers nothing and hangs on the ball too long when players make runs , so you drop him and play Trent , who’s one of our best passer and creator . and finally, tell Harry Kane he needs to stop dropping in and stay forward and let the midfielders do their job

Bravo man. Absolutely spot on. It’s infuriating having such a clear and logical view and Southgate can’t see it. Hang in there.

Issue is that Trent takes Foden or Saka or Palmer or Bellingham out the game and suits a Watkins or Gordon

I laughed when I first heard Wright say Saka at left back…. But the more I think about it the more it makes perfect sense.

Southgate does't like asymmetric players, he's not bright enough to appreciate them. He wants orderly linear structure which he can comprehend and control.

Palmer was class, forwards passes, driving at players, creating chances with crosses. Top class 👏

I adore that Postecoglu, a former manager of Australia, was given credit rather than Priorities, the manager of Tottenham right now.

The balance problem is the left side, Foden/Trippier are constantly cutting inside so centre of the pitch is congested. Love to see Gordon/Palmer/Mainoo but let’s face it same team will start 🤡
Please be kind🙏
