I bought a very low hour second hand Nitro from a gentleman who had a hard landing and injury. The unit was at Aviator PPG having the damage assessed at the time of purchase and Aviator received no commission or compensation in any way from the sale. They shipped the motor to me at the owners request and their involvement should have been finished at that point. Anytime I had questions or concerns about fixing the motor they were 110% there with genuine help and not some vague information or trying to find some way to profit from the situation. The point is....no matter what brand they decide to carry I believe Aviator PPG will do everything they can for you because its what is they way they are. It just so happens that it is also very good for business which makes it good for them and the consumer. My next purchase will be from Aviator because I believe they will always be there for their customers.

I just did the annual maintenance on it and outside of a fuse issue as I change the relay once I put the right fuse in it started right up just like it does every year. At the end of the day I think it comes down to engines and I think the Simonini is a hit. I admire design of Vittorazi, but if you're looking for an engine and the manufacturer package that's worked for over a decade I highly recommend fly products. Thanks for posting this. I'd already seen the statement about it that came from Air Conception which is pretty much exactly what you said. I think they were maybe a little short sighted in their expectations. If they couldn't meet demand and couldn't add more manufacturing capacity in the near term, it actually would have made more sense to keep you as a seller and pick up another company if demand fell below what they could comfortably produce. I don't know what the actual real world weight difference is between the Nitro and Maverick is, but it can't be nearly as huge as the difference in fit and finish. The one AC product that would be nice if you could still sell are the Anti-Torque Lamells which, by all indications, work very well. I assume those are patented or you could just sell your own version.

There’s NO EXCUSE for half the problems you hear see with peoples engines crapping out, parts breaking and many many other problems! It’s a simple 2 stroke engine which leads me to believe these engines are poorly designed or just made from crappy material!
@AV8R_15 жыл бұрын
Seems silly that AC would take a stance that if you aren’t selling their product exclusively that they don’t want you selling it at all. Better to sell a reduced amount of inventory than to sell NO inventory, but whatever. Seems like they shot themselves in the foot.

I found what Eric is saying in the beginning of this video to be a complete contradiction to my personal experience when shopping with Aviator in the fall of 2016. I was looking to get into the sport so I took a day off from work and visited Eric at his facility in Lake Wales, FL. I certainly have no ill will toward Eric, but it really bothers me to hear him say he doesn't talk smack and trash the competition like a lot of others do in the paramotor industry, because that's exactly what he did when trying to sell me his brand that day. When I mentioned another brand I had been researching, he went into great depths telling me how bad they were. I remember this so vividly and how it left such a bad taste in my mouth that nowadays when I see him at events, I always think of how unprofessional he presented himself and his business. Funny thing is, he's now selling the brand he had worked so hard trying to convince me was junk!

We try hard to point out the good and bad of everything, but I truly must apologize if you left with that taste in your mouth. It was never my intent. One thing worth pointing out is that a LOT can change for a brand over 3 years. We've been really impressed by the new models, new support structure etc. Perhaps that is part of the reason? Either way, I am truly sorry for leaving a bad impression. Please come say hi the next time you see me and remind me of our conversations. I'd love to share a beverage with you and repair my mistake.

I'm curious, if you're not bashing on other motors, why do you boot Aviator Alliance Members out of your club if they don't want to sell your motors for you? I thought the Alliance was created to form a great training experience by learning from one another - but now it seems like a money making scheme.
@aviator5 жыл бұрын
When we send a customer to an Alliance member we're giving up a lot of the capital that allows us to pay our employees and feed our children. If they aren't selling the equipment we support, we're giving up even more. For what it's worth, we haven't "booted" any one. Some of them have just opted to go in different directions. We're all still friends :)
@jaqueezs36535 жыл бұрын
@@aviator That's assuming a lot. If people were able to go to Aviator PPG, they would. You guys are the best after all. But what about people who are remote, don't want to be on a waiting list for a year and/or can't afford your $3K training fee? You aren't "giving up" any capital at all by referring people. Either they are able to go to you, or they aren't. From a consumer's point of view, the Alliance is a stamp of approval from you guys, saying that we trust these people and since you're not able to come to us, you'll be safe with them. Your business model should be membership fee and/or referral fee based. Removing an instructor's ability to sell whatever gear they personally feel is best for their students and/or situation shouldn't immediately mean you are going to remove them from the club and dissociate from them. Otherwise, you come off as Kingpins running a PPG cartel.
@aviator5 жыл бұрын
@@jaqueezs3653 Ah, I see your confusion. The Alliance members aren't just a seal of approval (that may happen in the future we haven't really considered it, but for now USPPA is the governing "stamp"). For us, Alliance members are about more than just saying they're good schools, they get direct referrals from people who DO want to train with us. I like your idea though, perhaps we could have "Aviator Certified" schools in the future. We'd love to help better EVERY possible school out there!
@jaqueezs36535 жыл бұрын
@@aviator Oh, I think I understand now. At first I thought being an Alliance member was just an assurance that member schools taught the same curriculum that everyone in the Alliance collectively worked to develop - thereby ensuring that you'd get the same education as if you had gone to Florida and trained with you. But it's more like being an Alliance school is like being a McDonald's franchisee - you technically own it, but you're controlled by the corporate mother ship. From a business point of view, it really is impressive and exciting that this sport has risen to that level of popularity. I just hope everyone in the sport remembers to remain safe and honorable so no one taints public opinion and ruin it for everyone.

Here is another take... albeit, not for everyone. Farewell to paramotors. I was going to buy a paramotor and take the paramotor courses. But after watching boatloads of paramotor videos, I started to notice everyone almost always flies early mornings or late afternoons just before sunset... due to turbulence. Plus, non-favorable conditions are fairly common (winds, gusts, etc). Plus cold weather that makes flying miserable is fairly common too (if not certain much of the year). So after quite a bit of thought and soul searching... I bought an airplane. Can fly almost any time... day and night (which is awesome)... spring, summer, fall and winter. Also, 3000 miles on a tank instead of 30 miles or so. Also across continents and oceans... like to Hawaii or Fiji... or anywhere else on the planet I may want to go in hops of 3000 miles or less. Don't get me wrong, I think paramotors are radically cool. And when conditions are perfect, awesome to tour through gorgeous scenery. And it wasn't an easy decision. But so far I'm content with my choice. I wonder how many others consider the positives and negatives of all the different ways to be an "aviator" before they choose "which way to fly". PS: I have to admit... the rather large number of reports of broken components and repair hassles factored into my decision. Fortunately problems with paramotor components don't seem to cause injury or death very often.
@jeffpeff5 жыл бұрын
max bootstrap Yes, flying paramotors is limited to benign weather conditions. But it is considerably less expensive than fixed wing airplanes. Maybe, if you can afford the expense of airplane ownership, you could afford to do both? It is after all, a different experience, being in the open air in a harness, as opposed to being in an enclosed cockpit. I think that’s the attraction for me, anyway. Also don’t forget, there’s a lot more stuff that breaks, and requires regular inspections on an airplane, than on a paramotor. Congratulations on the airplane! I wish you all the best with it! Clear skies, and happy flying. Enjoy!
@maxbootstrap73975 жыл бұрын
@@jeffpeff : Yup, wish I could afford both! I could have afforded both if I bought an airplane just for bush/mountain/backcountry flying. In fact, one can buy some pretty spiffy used bush planes for not much more than a really good paramotor, wing, etc. I never thought I would own an airplane, because to be "worth it" to me required that it was great for bush/mountain/backcountry flying ... AND ... long-range flying (which I define as being able to fly at least 3000 miles (meaning 2500 miles plus 500 miles safety margin). That 4000km/2500mile number is more-or-less a "magic number" for me, because that is what is required to be able to fly anywhere on earth. Actually, that won't get you to the south pole and back, but otherwise, that 4000km/2500mile will get you anywhere on the planet. Pretty much the longest non-stop hop is from California to Hawaii... at nearly 2500 miles. The cross the south pacific only requires 3000km/1875mile range. So... as usual... I'm weird. For a long time I thought an airplane was out of the question because no tiny airplane had a range of 4000km. Of course people do put ferry tanks in one or more passenger seats to fly them to remote locations (like California to Hawaii), but such an airplane is not practical for general long-range flying. As far as I know, only one airplane exists that has these capabilities. And so... that's what I purchased. Being in the open air is great... when the weather is great. The airplane I bought has doors that open upward and attach to the underside of the wings. And the airplane can be flown with doors open or doors off... though not at anywhere near full speed (300kph). But for low and slow flying... which is something I love to do, and will do lots of, I will be able to fly without doors. That's not entirely out in the open, of course, but... not too bad a tradeoff. And in cold weather... hahaha. No comparison! :-) This airplane also gets great fuel economy... as in 50~70 mpg on automobile gasoline @ 275~240kph... which may be better than paramotors? And being "experimental" means I can do a lot of my own service and modifications and avoid the price horrors of certified airplane costs... at least some of that anyway. My guess is, the airplane will cost a tiny fraction as much as a paramotor... per mile. Not sure about "per hour" though. Probably where your claim turns out to be correct is insurance... assuming I buy insurance (probably will).

max bootstrap Nice. That all sounds really cool. My dad has a RV-12, and a home built experimental bi-plane based on a British SE-5. My brother has a Pitts Special. I’m going the butt-fan and bedsheet route, 🤣. But like I say, it just depends on what kind of flying you want to do. It’s all good. Be safe up there! What airplane did you buy, if I may ask?

@@jeffpeff : pipistrel virus sw with rotax 912iS engine, 300-liter fuel tanks and pretty much the full-bore set of Dynon avionics built around the HDX1100. Maybe someday I can afford a butt-fan too.

Funny how things work out! I set out to buy an ultralight aircraft and was looking for a hangar to rent when I found PPG. For me it worked out that I love practicing ground handling when it's to windy to fly. I live in Florida 20 minutes from my local PPG friendly airport with training and other safe flying sites in all directions. Note: I still love my Air Conception Nitro 200!
