You should write a children’s book about your farm life, with Henry and Turnip and Buttercup and etc. Your a natural at telling a good story and I’m sure you have artists friends to help with the illustrations.

Ten years! Amazing! And your video reminds me that I need to get the garden ready to put my garlic in (all of 2 dozen cloves, just for ourselves). I too had good apples (2 trees only) and made apple sauce and apple pie, both of which were consumed on our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner last weekend by ourselves and 6 guests. And so Trudy isn't going to have another litter soon, giver her some rest - unlike the horses! You'll have 2 foals, if I'm not mistaken. Onwards!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!!! Definitely, Trudi deserves a good rest and break from motherhood. Yes, two foals next year, it will be a busy spring and summer! We are very excited as I plan to keep Flora's foal as a future therapy horse.....

I love trees. I hate seeing them cut down. Even though I understand that some trees can be dangerous (above power lines, 1/2 dead trees...), I don't think 40y old healthy trees are dangerous. Trees are awesome. You can buy land, trees you have to grow. This are stupid rules, pardon my french. I am building big house under mighty old trees. We bought that property because of them. Edit: Lovely video, as always I dont want to come out negative.

I know this sort of thing makes me mad. Just because one person has an issue the 40 year old trees had to be cut down. Surely a mirror could have been a good answer. They make them for outdoors in cases like this.

The rules apply to all non-private entrances as they expect more traffic going in and out. The warning letter sounded tough enough, threads of court and all. I can see how they try to keep traffic safe and there is nothing wrong with having some rules about traffic flow, but what annoys me is that us little people are intimidated by the thread of court and jump into action to rectify things - it cost me nearly €3000 to get the job done - and the big enterprises get away with all sort of things as they have the money to spend on engineers and solicitors to talk them out of the dilemma.

More and more nonsensical rules, more and more sneaking a peak over the shoulder. More and more decisions made for us (for our own good, ofc). Is it just my feeling or does it deteriorate faster in Ireland (compared to - say - rest of democratic world)?

Wow, I don't even dare thinking that far ahead, but sure, that would be cool!!! Only sad thing is that our very Hairy Henry the horse has a different life expectancy from us humans....he's 19 already.

Every now & then, I need some relief from all the current conflict. Coming here & seeing how you're getting on is a lovely way to do just that. ETA I've never been worried by geese & they seem to reciprocate by not being aggressive, though one does like to get hold of my thumb & lead me round the pond...

It is very interesting to watch Buttercup interact with different people. He leaves some alone altogether and gets very agitated about others. Subtle clues I can't read. He is very clever.

I can well imagine that, they are full of themselves and would take on a shark or wolf if they came across one on their paddelling and waddelling about!

I had ducks and kept them with chickens in a large run with woodchip as a base and, unfortunately, it wasn't kind on the duck's feet. You might find that happening with your goose. They prefer it soft underfoot.

Buttercup has free run of the place - concrete, woodchip, gravel, dungheap, grass, soil...you name it, he has free choice where to walk and sit. His crate has soft woddshavings as bedding. But yes, if thery are only given one surface and no choice and this surface doesn't suit them, then they would be uncormfortable...

Dankeschoen. Ich glaube, unsere Aepfel sind dazu nicht suess genug, ansonsten ein guter Vorschlag! Mit Zwiebelkuchen natuerlich!!!

@@WayOutWestx2Für Most oder Äppelwoi müssen die Äpfel nicht besonders süß sein. Ein Mostfass und etwas Gärhefe zum Starten - und der Rest passiert quasi alleine. Wenn der Most nicht so süß ist, ist es als Schorle eine prima Erfrischung im Sommer. Wir lassen immer noch ein paar Birnen mit vergären, dann schmeckt es auch mit nicht so süßen Äpfeln lecker.

Yes, the timber is ours, as the trees were ours, and I was able to sell it on as firewood to cover some of the cost of getting them felled.

Yes, nice enough but not great wood, very fast growing and they might have blown over one of these days as the land at their side is very wet. We plan to plant a native hedgerow just behind the line of trees, that will be even better for wildlife!
