If I remember correctly, White Death is known as Tuberculosis, which is an airborne disease that is notorious and difficult to treat since it thrives in the macrophages at the lungs.
@Appri8 ай бұрын
Tuberculosis is insanely hard to treat with modern medicine too. There is a vaccine, but not administered normally in the U.S. And it's not even close to 100% shielding. It also prevents testing for TB as it reacts to the skin test. TB takes LITERALLY 6 MONTHS to cure.
@darkraiking6806 ай бұрын
Indeed. Even in todays world, TB is still a dangerous threat without proper treatment. I know certain places in the medical sector, you need to be checked to see if you get an immune response to TB, which as far as I recall is the only disease where one is tested for a response for.

This series has two kinds of villains, those who challenge Farma like the inquisitors, the guildmaster and the greater evil spirit, and there are the diseases like the white death which pose a major threat on their right. Farma's knowledge and his cheat skill to create and destroy any substance he understands makes him very powerful. He can fight as proven by his skirmish with the church inquisitors and his brother (in the manga) but he really doesnt care for violence and much prefers to heal people.

Even if your efforts fail the first time or important times never give up, for the answer, or any possibility of reaching it, will be lost the moment you do. Religious logic which is to say none
@ArschvomDienst7 ай бұрын
Reason is relatively easy to deduce. The father did not know he was creating a new medicine. For all he knew he was concocting a poison at worst or a placebo at best that was designed to prolong the queens suffering. Since *HE* was about to be executed if he was to introduce a treatment that ended in the queens death he (correctly btw.) assumed the same would have been true for his son. So basically he "only" was about to hasten that outcome from his perspective. Keep in mind as royal pharmacist he basically also was the queens bodyguard and a highly decorated mage/soldier. He had little choice in the matter ... Many small differences gave him first hope that his son changed for the better but in this instance it immediately turned into doubt. For instance earlier in life Farma was clumsy, not very bright and showed no higher interest in magic or medicine. After the lighting strike he suddenly was careful, patient, interested in magic and medicinal studies. Before the lightning strike his son was kind of distant to both his sister and the servants, after he was nice to his sick sister and the servants alike. Ultimately he was relatively convinced that he would not have killed his son, but a stranger/assassin wearing the mask of his son.

Pretty normal logic. Suddenly medical knowledge of his 10 year old son become far above anyone in this world. Since magic and demons is real thing in this world - he suspected that his son is possessed by demon. Btw he was right, his son was possessed. Not by demon, but by soul of dead doctor from japan.

I noticed that the first time I watched this anime. I do agree that taking drugs unnecessarily can be hard especially on the liver. Not to mention that he made the full RIPE regimen for the TB, each one being a strong drug. But I think it’s a very worth risk: 1) earning everyone’s trust that it’s not poison (by ingesting the drug he himself made) and 2) providing prophylaxis to himself, as Falma was near the queen several times, it’s safe to assume he got exposed to the MTB.
