Brings back memories. I found a steel wheeled grain drill much like my father had but haven’t gotten enough done around here to use it yet. As I always say, maybe next year.

I used a Farmall 450 diesel a lot when I was a kid. It looked like a big tractor then.

My Dad tried solid seeded soybeans with a drill a few times in the 80s. We normally had 36" row crops. Too many problems with weeds (this was the days before roundup ready seeds). One could only spray for a few specific weeds then and had to drive down some of the crop in the process. So, he gave up on the idea eventually. I remember the family walking the field through the tangled stalks (no rows) to pull weeds a few times too.

Giant ragweed can be a problem around here in beans if you don’t get it sprayed early. Marestail too.
