As a trained strength and conditioning coach, I’m always exploring ways to keep workouts fresh and challenging, even on the go.
This video of me doing light farmer’s carries on a treadmill was part of a carefully considered finisher protocol during a hotel workout session with my wife; where we had to make the most of limited space, during a multi-week trip.
📍Here’s what you need to know before jumping to conclusions:📍
• Weights Used: The weights were very light, relative to our fitness levels, ensuring we could maintain control and form throughout the exercise.
• Treadmill Speed: We set the treadmill at a very low speed to prioritize safety and ensure proper technique. Both of us have a high training age.
• Partner Assistance: Having a partner not only added a layer of safety but also allowed for immediate assistance if needed. When either of us was done. The other person simply stopped the treadmill. We stepped off carefully, set the weights down and alternated reps. I’m not sure where people watching this got the idea that we “jumped off” or did anything else?

• Context & Precautions: This was a short-duration exercise, chosen for specific training goals and performed after assessing risks and benefits by two trained professionals. It was a vacation workout.
🚨Caution: This exercise, like any other, should not be attempted without understanding the risks, taking proper precautions, and considering one’s own fitness level and experience. Always prioritize safety, and consult with a fitness professional if you’re unsure about an exercise.
We post to inspire, educate and share our life experiences, not to encourage unnecessary risks. Which is why you don’t see or hear anyone in this video recommending EVERYONE does this regardless of context. Nor do you see us touting it as a magic cure or ”secret.”
Thank you for watching and remember, thoughtful discussion is welcome, but let’s keep it respectful and constructive.
