a lot of people don't realize that the loose hook on the tape measure is deliberate. it is there to make up for the thickness of the hook material. so if you pull or you push you will get the same result. cheers Mike

Mike - I bet a stair tread template tool would work for replicating the exact width and angle of the brackets to the other side. Maybe you could make your own for a future build.

Nice job on the pan replacement. Apparently Klokkerholm has come out with some new pans that are using new tooling and the original spec thickness metal and have heard some good things about them. I think they still sell the old thin and wrinkly ones too. KlassicFab makes nice pans that have the correct shape and details for '55 and earlier if you are worried about originality.

I really like what you did with the jack mount. I need that on mine. My car has been so low over the years they are just torn up and twisted and I can only bend em back into place so many times.

The great Mike tackles a project and he MEANS BUSINESS!! 💪👏🙌👍 That was funny about Sarah’s channel. She’s doing a good job too. Great plan on servicing what’s there and preserving it if it’s solid. No point in taking stuff apart just for the sake of it. Servicing everything like clean the transaxle change the fluid and boots, do the brakes and service the steering box and front beam makes a lot of sense.

Yea pulled the lid off the steering box and put STP in there no leaks with that. thick stuff and it makes all the seals just fine.

@@Mikefngarage Killer! That is a great tip that I’d never heard before. I use it but as a supplement to Rotella in my car’s motor and it’s as thick as molasses.

Wonder how the factory would have spotwelded those pans in, - quite a distance to the center tunnel not to mention the pressure required for a 3 layer surface..

I'm looking at those "Jack Assemblies " at 29:00... just imagine if the had inserted a metal tube inside that bracket? Certainly would've been a more stable structure. Great Job Mike!!

Mike, have you ever used that panel bond stuff? Just curious. I heard that it helps with preventing rust on the seams.

only on the late models. the early ones had 2 or so different set of tracks so they come unassembled.

@@Mikefngarage Mate, I'm from down under - she looks like a girl to me. I watched the whole episode. Lots of spray painting with cans which I don't like. After the can explodes, she comes out with washed hair and less make up but definitely NO adam's apple and a deep voice. Have I missed something?
