Take it from a former astrophysicist, your reasoning between the two statements "the setting of the Sun" vs. "the setting of the sun" is spot on. The Sun can set, and the [nearest functional] sun can set, and both can be called sunsets 😊

Just wanted to chip in and say that it's also possible to operate a Mole solo, if you're willing to invest a few extra millions. It'll be less efficient than your prospector but with a bigger mineral hold and the option to team up, I personally think it's worth it.

@@Zan666 that's actually really handy information, I'm fairly new still so just learning what I'm doing. Was worried the mole might be a handful. Going from the vulture to the reclaimer was a big eye opener

Do love the Mole. Still one of my favourite ships and so much fun to multicrew. I hope they give it a bit of an interior rework some day though and I'm still hoping they implement it's filtering system someday.

I notice you triple-team the lasers on the smaller rocks; is it possible to use the beams on separate targets? I wonder if it would be more efficient.

Yes, each laser can target independently, though there is a limitation of the arcs.

MOLE definitely seems like it's geared more towards orgs with a centralized bank. I was in an org once where I just flew around and scouted for a MOLE, I didnt get paid anything.. but the money they made from it and with me helping scout allowed them to give me and others money for something if need be. For example, down 1 mil for a ship, and if the org knew you contributed to org events, they didnt hesitate to give you money for it. Seeing as is you guys made 633k, then divide it by 5, which comes out to like 125k a person. Also not sure if you mentioned how long those 2 runs took. That's just my speculation 👀

I am considering trading in my mole because of it being challenging for a solo pilot. Any suggestions on a ship that solos above the 315 price tag or melt it...I already have the herc and love her...she makes credits pretty easy but my mole just sits..

If you think you might like it in the future, the MOLE Q&A does mention hiring NPCs to man the lasers. The problem at the $315 price point is these ships are big, and not many are good for solo play. If you CCU'd into it, you'll lose so much value if you melt it. Maybe you could grab a prospector for in game cash to enjoy mining and then get back to the MOLE later on down the road.

I’ve never been any good at mining in the game but some of my members in my org are good at it and I wouldn’t mind being the pilot of a mole. Or the arrasta when it comes out. I’m more into the salvage gameplay myself probably cause I don’t have to worry about blowing up lol 😂. Hey who knows maybe my members can teach me. After all I showed them how to salvage.

Some people do, yes, it’s its Scientific Name. “The Solar System” is the “System of Sol” as it turns out. Likewise Solar Radiation is radiation from Sol. Some people also call it Helios, it’s oldest Western name given it by the Ancient Greeks.

how is a 10k mass rock supposed to be impossible with a mole? Prospector does 10k. am i missing something here. (maybe the -25% resistance on each laser?)

Yup, it's the stock equipment. MOLE can easily do more with a proper loadout

i truly hope CIG takes crafting very seriously while creating those game mechanics. also it's definitely still called sunset and sunrise. anyone who says differently is just being an annoying contrarian. WE GET IT, YOU PEOPLE NEED ATTENTION NOW SHUT UP AND LET THE ADULTS PLAY THEIR SPACE GAME. ;D

633k / 5 = 126k per person. This trip took "at least" an hour and if we are honest probably a little more... 126k an hour is ridiculous. I wish you would use your platform to highlight how nearly impossible it is to get people to join a Mole crew on a regular basis because of these absolutely trash payouts. But why not just say: "So, that's not bad". - wow... I truly appreciate the positive approach this channel takes, but I do find it a little disingenuous (and maybe not on purpose) to declare this is an acceptable payout for the work put in. Comparatively speaking, it's not....

You know, you're right. We were out for 2 hours, when you factor in the time to sell up. But equally we weren't min maxing, that was a stock MOLE and we weren't particularly searching for the most profitable ores. So this video probably isn't a good representation of the possibilities of earning credits from MOLE mining, just what we happened to get from this trip. But I take your point

I am very much looking forward to crafting and manufacturing because I believe that will help make mining feel a little more purpose driven (beyond the aUEC/hr). You cast mining in a good light, and for that, I am thankful. :)

sometimes it's not all about "payout".. sometimes it's about hanging out and doing things with your friends. Just pulling something off sometimes is good enough for some peeps.

I would only care about the payout for mining in a MOLE if you were to tell me for sure that this is going to be the expected payout for a game that's not got a handful of wipes and economy reworks coming soon(TM). Learn the mechanics of the game, become a better flying/fighter/miner and hope your skills translate to the actual game. Everything else should be for fun because we're quite literally spinning out wheels right now.
