One thing you fail to realize about EV sales and profit in China, is that not all businesses in China are designed to run at more than just cost, because of state controls. Thus enabling cars to be sold domestically at the absolute lowest cost possible for the less wealthy to afford. The same can be said for the Ebike and EV Truck/bus industry internally as well. You will see that BYD turned the corner the minute they started exporting their EV's to other countries.

In the very near future you'll have a robot to serve you and you will be able to remotely operate it yourself (Think of the movie "Surrogates") when it's not in autonomous mode. Your robot will be customisable to look how you want it to look. Do you want to be a kid again, an animal, a mythical being or perhaps a different gender? Anything will be possible only limited by your imagination. You are going to see some freaky shit out there that's for sure.

@@kingiam9271 you misunderstand the difference between part supplier for prototypes, and supply chain. Supply chain is much bigger than just a few parts. Sure you can use existing Boston dynamics suppliers to build maybe 100-1000 bots. But after that? Supply chain for millions of bots doesn’t exist. Tesla had to deal with this with EVs. Not enough battery supply was a big problem. They drove the EV battery supply chain into existence. Tesla competitors have struggled hard with supply chain. How many companies announced “we will make 20k EVs” and then 3000 cars in, run out of batteries supply chain and have to stop production? It’s happened at least 3 times that i can remember in the last 5 years, and i am sure it’s happened more than that. Do you know why, up until now, they have not ramped the tesla semi truck? Battery supply chain… otherwise they could’ve ramped semi trucks half a decade ago… but they were battery constrained, and it made more sense to use those batteries to build five model 3s than one semi truck.

Farzad I think you are missing the point. 1 these new robots -non tesla- are built with off the shelf parts that are made with known manufacturing processes. Tesla went to basic physics and reinvented every part that needs new manufacture lines and processes. THIS IS HARD.complete redesign of manufacture machines and processes . These startups have used known parts and known processes. 2. The software of the new non Tesla robots is a program of each exact motion, line by line, therefore each task at each factory where these new robots will be working, needs thousands of lines of code. But Tesla uses AI. It copies child learning to recognize, carry, place, or recognize, guide tool, screw. It is intuitive, not robotic. This enables a teslabot to learn ANY TASK very quickly learning from copying a human mentor and inference learning. 3 To back this, Tesla is buying BILLIONS of dollars of compute warehouses and chips to use inference learning to quickly learn ANY TASK rapidly. This is where Tesla has an enormous advantage It has the money to buy the chips and build the Warehouses It has an understanding of inference software. It has redesigned the whole robot with first principle designed parts, new motors, new materials etc. these startups can show a robot doing one task, but they do not have money, compute warehouses, inference software, first principle parts.
@davidradtke160
@davidradtke160 7 күн бұрын
That copying and inference training isn’t done in the robot, but back at a giant super computer. Tesla will have to train the tasks you want done, then push out neural network update to allow the bots to do it,

As the software used by the robot improves, the number of tasks that the robot can carry out will continue to grow. Tesla could sell an initial run of it current robots to start the business rolling before moving to mass production. Other companies will be emulating what Tesla has done. Bots will be used to make things more efficient and cheaper. But it is not know how efficient these machines will actually be. I predict the cost of building and maintenance will still be quite high. So perhaps the cost of goods and services will drop by 10-15% due to the bots, but that is still not huge. They will be very useful in households and for property maintenance, deliveries and general service jobs. Self driving vehicles will provide a similar drop in cost of goods. But I don’t think it’s going to be as radical a change as people think.

Even that numbers are probably underestimate the reality by far. Why? It takes the current size of size of the economy as given. What do you think will happen, if labor is 1. available everywhere 2. unlimited 3. to a fraction of the current cost? The size of a country in regards of land mass and/or population does no longer put strict limits to the size of a countries economy. That’s why all estimates are by far to low in the long run.

So do u really think that the ai for the robot will be easier than the hardware? And with all the technology available, the human form factor may not be the optimal one.

what will you do for money if robots have all the jobs
@larsnystrom6698

With something like just 1000 shares in Telsa you get more money when Optimus takes away your repetitive job, which you didn't like anyway. Use that money to buy a flock of Optimus, which you then use in your business. The trick is to build your business on that AI does all the work. So in short, build a business, don't live only on your own work! And, of course, all work is done by AI and robots. Maybe start a career as teaching Optimus new tasks? I want an Optimus who is a very good cook. Anyone who is that has a lot to teach it! License out what you have taught it.

For the nail in the competitor's coffin, the mean and lean Agile environment that is natural at Tesla has many billions in funds to throw at any and all issues or roadblocks. Who else has that?

As far as Optimus, I definitely think they can build them for 10 grand and sell them for 20 grand. There are literally a billion uses for. So for every 1,000 Tesla bots they sell they make 10 million. Sell a million Tesla makes 10 billion. & with 8 billion people I can definitely see Tesla selling 1 billion which would net them 10 trillion. Forget Ev's or Mega Packs, it's all about the robots....

I don't think there will be another mass produced C3PO the way Optimus will be because of scaling and manufacturing costs. I see multiple R2D2 trashcan robots with a video projector shooting out of it's face. There may be other C3PO manufacturers but not on the scale of Optimus IMO.

When Elon told that questioner that Optimus will have a personality and that it will talk to you in the language and accent that you are comfortable with! It will, he said, know you so well that it will know what you want before you say it! In the future it will wake you up at 6 in the morning (or whatever time you want to get up) with a tea or coffee (made exactly the way you like it, everytime) with the right amount of sugar! It will be a crazy weird future is what Elon said. Elon gets you so excited that you get frustrated that the future is late! You want it now!

The potential of Optimus is surely as hugh as Elon Musk says. But the timeline to get there might be pretty long. I don't think 5 years, as ARK uses, will be enough to reach Musk's projected, or guessed, target. We will se it in Tesla's factories pretty quickly, but that won't show any profit, so Wall Street will ignore it, as they always do. I guess 5 years will be enough to give us a hint of real profits, though. But will it be enough for Wall Street analysts to include in their targets. They will probably need both a noticeable profit, and a growth rate, before doing that. So, what I'm saying is that we retail investors will be frustrated about how dense Wall Street is, and why the stock doesn't move noticably on Ootimus, 5 years from now!

Ark's 2029 valuation does not include Optimus. Robotaxis only by 2029. Optimus is cream on top. A lot of cream!

Tesla is perfectly positioned to bring these humanoid robots to market. Especially with Elon at the helm. Teslas factories already look like a Skynet assembly line
