It is raw salt, if you want to purify it, dissolve it in water, filter the liquid to remove the dirt, then heat the water in a large flat pan to evaporate the water, and the salt will crystalize out. Do it twice if you think it is too dirty...

Well, they are constantly jamming it, and so have to manually intervene 1 of every 4 or 5 throws. Putting their hands near the inlet seems like the least dangerous part -leaning. over that exposed flywheel with loose clothing looks much worse.

It's quite obvious they separate the pink stones from the grey ones, also they set aside the best/purest crystals for more premium products. What they grind to a fine dust is only the lowest-grade, rock-like gray raw mineral.

It is crazy how inefficient it is, but they are fine with it. Like in America that entire mountain would be moved in an 8 hour shift. Over there its like nah we just take 1 neatly stacked truck load at a time. It is amazing really.
