I’m Italian from Queens NY and we all grew up listening to Freestyle and few years ago I was in Washington heights where it’s all Basically Dominicans and they don’t even know what this music is I was driving playing this song loud in my car stereo system at a red light and this Puerto Rican girl started dancing in front of my car to the song it was awesome. Back then from what I only seen was the majority Italians and Puerto Rican’s listening to freestyle

@@deepstate3358 Hell yeah. I'm Puerto Rican from The Bronx and in 1987 as an 18 year old teen I would go to club Roseland in Manhattan and there would be plenty of Dominicans enjoying this music and repping hard. Big drug dealers and the Ball Busters Crew making noise.

OMG!! I listen to this song and I'm 17 again back in NYC. I'm with my friends going to Hearthrobs, Emerald City, The Funhouse, Roseland, The Underground, 1018, Palladium etc. Freestyle forever!!! That time seemed to never end and the music was everywhere.

One of the best produced songs by Todd Terry. He is the sample king but also a musical genius. I met him while taking a graffiti tag in Coney Island Brooklyn, he asked to borrow the marker and wrote Kaze. Imagine years later when i realized Todd Terry , Kaze productions was that dude. Hung out late 90s and he recalled the meeting. Priceless...

Great story and thanks for sharing. Met him briefly at the winter music convention in Miami around 2001. Yeah, he is a dance music genius and was involved with early house music also. Back then all was played in the clubs and evolve from one style to another, but to me it’s all great dance music and love all the music they used to pimp in the clubs.

I was there when they were playing this song and other freestyle songs in the clubs and it was fire! Everyone making tape of their best sings and pumping it loud out their cars and boomboxes and hitting the clubs on weekends to dance it up hard all night. The energy in the clubs were incredible and nothing like it today. You had to be there to really know how great it was and I miss those days and ppl. we’re different and not just starting shyt and shooting everyone.!

@@yankessnperu 89 and 91 for ME Felt like something else..U had to be there and be at LEAST 16 IN 89 to understand....J know we where younger and with less RESPONSIBILITY and that had plenty to do with it but it wasn't ONLY that it was Soo much more..The Vibe..The Fashion.The Music..The Dancing culture more DOMINANT than the bottle buying culture at the time u could buy as many bottles as u wanted ur VIP would be empty and u where considered Corny if u had TO PAY to get attention..and economically we where better off more of us had money the wealth was spread out so flaunting money wasn't as impressive as it is now...The Free Parties at Orchard Beach..The Females where more beautiful in GENERAL...anyone from that time can attest to that .don't get me WRONG..lots of fine Females everywhere still but I would see at LEAST 6-7 DIMES in any club in NYC on any give. Night .I have gone into a club the last 10 years plenty of times..place packed..maybe 1-2 DIMES if THAT..LOTS OF SEXY FUCKABLES BUT LOW ON THE DIME METER..ITS JUST DIFFERENT NOW

Fuckin A, I feel like I'm 17 when I hear freestyle, but especially electrified rockin' music like this. Instead of making me feel good, I am overwhelmed with wanting to go back to Queens in the 80's and early 90's. Capezios, Cavaricci's, a gold cross around my neck, my hair slicked back, and guidettes with " Big Hair" dancing next to a boom box while listening to Debbie Deb on the corner of 34 Ave and 147th Street in Flushing. A bit stereotyped, I know, but God only knows what I'd give to hang out with my Italian Paisans all over again. God, I had the time of my life. Take me back, please, voglio tornare...
