And another lesson learned: truly fantastic quality clothes never go out of style. Every chanel and Ralph Lauren piece showed here could be worn today!!!!!

I'm enjoying the 80s fashion shows. The models have this sassy, devil may care strut and look to be enjoying the clothes. Today's models do a sullen stomp down the runway.

I don't think Ralph Lauren has ever considered himself a creative mastermind, but he must get his due credit for being the catalyst in creating lifestyle branding as he was the first to do it.

He ALSO can be given credit for a perceived attitude of calm enjoyment about his work - he has a gift for not seeming on edge, uptight, tortured... maybe he really isn't?😘

he was not the first in a coat inspired from mens to women..It was yves saint laurent. Saint Laurent’s 1962 fashion show opened with the pea coat, which was the first piece he presented under his own name. The model wore it with white shantung pants and mules. This ensemble paved the way for Yves Saint Laurent’s signature style, which borrowed from menswear in order to make women feel comfortable and confident. The couturier would continue to offer variations on the navy look, notably with the sailor sweater and the paletot in his 1966 collection.

14:21 "The original one that Coco Chanel designed" - Wrong. The model she is showing is the Classic Flap that Karl Lagerfeld designed. The original is called the 2.55 (February 1955 was when she designed it) and it has a rectangular lock (the "Mademioselle lock") and flat chain. It's basic knowledge that every person working in Chanel has, so I'm surprised she made that mistake.

im not-- sales clerk-- overworked and underpaid-- i had to laugh when she said $685.00 pounds for the classic handbag... what year was this taped??? 1960
@danielc23754 жыл бұрын
Back in the 90s the reissue 2.55 known as the original chanel design of coco was not really in the market due that in the 80s and 90s was all about the logos and decadence in chanel designs and i guess it didn’t fit in for that market in those times and everyone thought it was the real chanel design. In 2005 i believe karl introduced the original design of the original coco chanel bag he found in the rue cambon archieves if i remember well and is known as the reissue 2.55 and that bag still in the market today. Also this was filmed on the early 90s you gotta remember 600 pounds was allot of money for that time but still chanel was less pricier than today the classics now are reaching $7000 because they are greedy and love to increase prices.

Economy very different ... In the early 1980s was living in Paris Left bank @ $10 a day ...$5 lodging per night small hotels rather nice, sweet, clean & atmospheric. Even subrented a furnished apt - near Metro stop Les Gobelins @ $30/ month (=200 Francs at the time )

“People who buy the real stuff don’t buy the fake one and the people who buy the fake one don’t buy the real one.” Hmmm! I’m a little surprised. That is the first time I ever heard anyone, especially a designer of luxury goods, say that knockoffs don’t really cost the luxury companies money.

Stussy is one of the pioneers of skate/streetwear fashion. They’re one of the first in the industry. The explosion of youth culture of early 90s paved this brand to thrive and evolve into a counter-culture consumerism that sadly today is now coined as “hypebeast”.

1. Yet another person who made his name worth m/billions by taking advantage of the insecurity of people with their self worth. 2. Now I know why there are always new fashion lines: to stay ahead of counterfeiters. This probably applies to other industries as well. Evil really results to more evil. Its a vicious cycle :)
