Composer's Course 2023
JAM presented its first in-residence summer school during the festival to composers who want to take their musical skills and composition to a higher level. Within this vibrant multi-arts festival on the Kent coastline, composers found themselves immersed in an exciting and intensive composition experience, composing during, having their music performed in the festival and a resulting commission prize awarded.
JAM offered four composers a residency in the festival, focusing on writing for string quartet in collaboration with the inspirational Sacconi Quartet, international composer Paul Mealor, composer Gabriel Jackson, composer John Frederick Hudson, conductor Nicholas Cleobury and Ruth Rogers, violin (Co-Leader of London Mozart Players). During the festival summer school, composers composed a short piece for string quartet, culminating in this performance in the festival at St George's Church, Ivychurch, Kent, UK.
