I am a reporter at an NBC station. Here is an interesting story from reporter Elwyn Lopez on a fast food restaurant which is part of a new revolution in the fast food industry. Robots doing the jobs people normally do. April 15, 2024.

There is NOTHING that is AI in this robotic hamburger joint. It's called automation. Nothing.

Id rather have a robot that makes it exactly as i asked rather than someone who is tired of their job and messes up my order 9/10 times. Some business are great at making my food as i asked but if im paying alot of money now a-days for a quick bite and i ask and they fail…like why even bother. If your a multi chain business that doesn’t have a good reputation with customers because your employees at that store aren’t performing it wouldn’t be a problem to swap them out for something that is not gonna complain. We dont need every restaurant to incorporate robotics as cooks, we just need the individual stores at certain locations that aren’t living up to their customers expectations to change.

Lolol "AI". This doesn't use AI it's normal automation software. If there's a single LLM behind the robots they're loony

Won't call out and no HR issues. You will be able to schedule hardware and software maintenance during closed hours. I don't think that California really knew what it was doing with hiking labor costs in a business with tight margins. I do think that California has unwittingly pushed automation of fast food to where it needs to go frankly. Once the automation has been perfected in the environment, and the new operations model for the restaurants is fully understood there will be a drop or at least a hold on prices.
