I have been working customer service/food service since I was 12 years old, I have always dreamed of fully automated restaurants like this because of how horrible these jobs are. The customers have always been horrible and entitled people, but that is something that really got much worse over Covid, people screaming and crying like toddlers till the management gets sick of having to put up with them and end up them what they want or calls the cops to trespass them. I have always figured that just like in the industrial revolution, automation will replace these jobs with better ones. The sooner customers have to interact with robots that can listen to them cry and whine forever without giving in to their bad behavior, the better, in my opinion. Once we have machines doing that work, more people will realise that the customer is usually wrong.

So, most of the expense seems to indicate that the high-grade meat is a big part of that. So, if you are comparing with the Counter or Five guys or Shake shack, it is roughly half the price they charge. There will clearly still be a few staff, but that compares to a typical shift team of 12 to 14. So, instead of roughly half the fast-food workers losing their job, over several years 95% of them will be unemployed. Great job by Newsome and the SEIU.

I read (a long time ago) that researchers placed food made by robots and humans in front subjects for taste testing preference. Overwhelmingly, people chose the food made by humans. The people were asked what the difference in taste was (because the ingredients and measurements were exactly the same) and the test subjects gave descriptions of home, family and love. I kid you not, even though the taste testers didn't know that one of their food samples was made by machine, they could still identify the one made by humans. The researchers concluded that the unscientific or immeasurable ingredient of love was the magic ingredient that gave food more taste, flavor or pleasure. By the way the food made by people were grandmothers and they were asked to think of their love for their family while preparing the exact same meal that a macine made. I wish i could remember where i read that - it might of been Time magazine. In fact, I'm pretty confident that's where i read it - the cover had the title of "The Chemistry of Love". 1990s

@@user-di3zy2ey7v Yeah, good question. I actually tried to search on public browsers for more studies and kept getting all kinds of news items on robotics, AI etc. Could be too that I'm not searching in the right place. I'd probably have to have access to more scholarly websites. My degrees are in the arts and I can't think of anybody offhand who would know where to look exactly. I did find the Time magazine online (Ebay) and the cover does say "The Chemistry of Love" with a graphic of a heart and chem flask. Whether the study is in it, I can't say but I'd wager that it is. Should be interesting to see if the fully automated restaurant works. The sanitary aspect of using robots is appealing but I'm not sure I would buy restaurant food on that variable alone. If I had to guess, I'd say it will be more popular with the young if the product does indeed taste good.

Automation of cooking and food processing has been attempted and failed many many times before. It will fail again because human labour is cheaper than the overall cost of creating , maintaining and running robots. Human broke? replaceable . Plenty of Humans. Robot broke? fixing and/or replacing the robot takes time and requires experts. Is it mechanical or software related? maybe power? resisters ? transistor? a pin? wire? This will take forever.
