Can we understand in the back of our minds that when the camera angle shifts sometimes that was a different angle a few moments ago. So it was a layered scene and not end to end. Not surprised, I always knew Brian's Eclipse was an RS given the rear drum brakes and funky valve cover. Why the decision was made to not acquire a GSX I will never know. Should have at least started with a GS, that way they could at least throw stupid amounts of boost at it and just suffer the traction and torque steer deficiencies. What did come as a surprise is that the Integra has USF plates, meaning to me, he's a local as I live in Central Florida. Never been a huge Honda fan but that's still pretty cool.

I always thought the RX-7 had a 20B 3-rotor in it. The sound seemed close-ish to that engine, and even at the start of the race when the camera goes through the "engine", you can count 3 distinct rotors. I wonder if Craig had anything to do with that?

I'm not sure if the whole scene would've been so memorable, and such a classic for me to this day, if it wasn't for the iconic technobabble and the acting. Straight up. My parents had a 2001 Corolla in stick and I would bust that ass in my 97 Maxima GLE auto every single time without turning off overdrive and the Corolla redlining in every single gear. Or at least close to redlining by the sound since the good people in Canada decided not to put a tachometer on a manual car but did so for the automatic ones.
@_Zekken4 жыл бұрын
Well that answer heavily depends on whether the corolla driver was blasting Eurobeat or not
@tycobandit4 жыл бұрын
If you were running a E120 Corolla in XRS trim. the engine with that package was the 2ZZ-GE with a 6 speed MT. Those engines were good for about 170-180 hp. It would have put you neck-n-neck with the integra. Getting more power out of it to hang with an FD RX-7, however, would have been challenging given the engine was never really taken too seriously by tuners or the after market (outside of Japan and Lotus in the UK because the used them in the Elise)
@_Zekken4 жыл бұрын
@@tycobandit depends on the gearing honestly. And the weight difference. Im not sure about the GSR but the integra Type R has super close gearing specially designed for that engine to keep it exactly in its power band in every single gear. If the GSR is similar, and the corollas is set longer for daily driving, adding in the weight differences, teg would still smoke it
