Improve your note reading at the piano! There's an easier and faster way to read and remember the notes in your piano music. If you want to improve your note reading so that you can sight read more songs on the piano, you DON'T need to memorize every note in your music in order to read piano music faster & easier.
I've watched this method of reading piano sheet music do amazing things for beginner piano students! Instead of feeling overwhelmed by trying to learn every single note, this way of learning how to read the notes in your music makes learning and remembering the notes feel SIMPLE & FUN! Woohoo! When you can read the notes in your piano music in an easier way, you won't get discouraged when you sit down at the piano to play sheet music. You will be able to play more songs at the piano (yes, even as a beginner!) and you'll have so much more fun.

The biggest problem I have is when notes go way above or below the staff. It's difficult sometimes to read notes like these. This video is very helpful.

Just use A C E as a baseline. The three ledger lines above the treble clef are A C E with the second line being C. Below the staff on bass clef works the same with C being the second ledger line below and A being the third below that.

Otherwise known as intervalic reading and I totally agree. It is the essence of reading notes. And not just sequentially, but also seeing a thick vertical stack of notes and recognizing instantly what kind of chord or harmonic structure you’re being asked to play. Composers and conductors have to deal with the alto and tenor clefs as well as instruments that are written in a different key signature. Intervalic reading allows them to move fluently between the floating note values on the staff.

A good demo of using landmark notes as a reading strategy. 👍 Always excellent advice to practice consistently from day to day. This repetitive effort makes it easier for both our brain and our physical muscle memory to recall what’s learned. Makes it much easier to recall these landmarks and intervals (distances). What a wonderfully clear tutorial on landmarks and intervals (steps and skips) and practice tip for new and returning piano learners! Loooove your tip for flashcards AT the piano so learners get familiar with WHERE the notated symbol lives at the keyboard! Wonderful that you include a pdf practice download! Bravo!

Next, talk about notes with 5 or 6 ledger lines. 😄 Btw, a friendly tip: You might want to reconsider the way you edit your videos. In the parts when you look into the camera, it's non-stop talking with no natural breaks.This is due, no doubt, to the numerous edits that have been patched together, creating a jumpiness and continuous "wall of sound." It's not how people naturally speak, and it creates ear fatigue, at least for me. I realize a lot of people cut videos in this way -- rather than doing better takes, they edit out their botched takes and paste together numerous cuts, but the end result is something that sounds frantic, and it's annoying. When your camera is on the keyboard, however, you sound much more relaxed, because it's one complete take.
@ThePianoPath

Haha, thanks for the feedback. I have to keep it moving with the video because people’s attention spans are basically non existent these days 😆

@@ThePianoPath I hear ya. Most people do, indeed, have the attention span of gnat, which is sad, but you have good content. Be confident in that, and don't feel that you have to rush it. Some people do drone on too long before getting to the heart of the video, but it's just finding a good balance. I hope I didn't appear overly critical. At some point, you might want to pretend you're a viewer watching the video for the first time, and see what your impressions of your video are as you watch with fresh eyes.🙂

What I like most about this video is that you don't do any de-tours into mnemonics. So for me this seems much more on point, using only the sheet and the piano keys as reference points for your explanation. Imho your videos would be even better with less cuts (maybe your analytics tell you otherwise, so just personal preference).

@@ThePianoPath The Song Autumn Leaves has every letter of the music alphabet A-G. If you play both hands together, chords only, starting from the middle octaves, master them, then master them blindly. Then one octave lower, both hands together, then one octave higher from middle. You intrinsically from your mind will know where every note is on a piano, blindly. So, just crawling to walking, it becomes second nature.

Starting from the middle of the keyboard with both hands and spreading across reading in both clefs with a correct technic holding the weight of your hands from the back with no locked arm joints is the fastest way with lots of patience and persistence. It will take years but eventually will produce results.! That's the only best way. No magical tricks

I don't think this way works for the brain. Brain works faster if you memorize every location and let it do reflexes when you play. Your way is forcing the brain to think of the relational location of the notes. Which is an extra step. I am a newbie, I don't know if I am correct or not, but I don't want to be misleaded either.

Lovey you are speaking too much too fast just like raindrops overwhelming a person caught in the rain. Please please learn to speak slowly without repeating yourself. Frankly I had to slow down the video to 0.75 to make any sense of it.

Hi, I was unable to access this 8 sheet music sheet here. Most piano app are becoming too expensive. I now rely on a FREE app and Google FREE printable easy music sheets I'm now returning to practising daily as I can not afford piano lessons. Simply Piano, this app does not always recognise my Midi cable. The app does not always recognise my connection. Plus, the app does not always give you the ability to reduce the metronome speed. Each practice song 🎵 lesson should offer print off availability to allow for practice There needs to be more help in quickly understanding the multiple ledgerlines The older we are, the longer it takes to learn anything. Children learn so much faster
