The Graph shown at 4:10 shows an interesting theory. Notice the highest money winner was the fourth fastest ball speed. The three fastest ball speeds ranked somewhere between 10th and 15th for winnings. That implies that there may be a sweet spot in terms of ball speed with respect to it's impact on winnings. This graph implies that the highest money winners tend to have ball speeds between 180 and 185.

Interesting. Hadn't really considered that detailed a conclusion and tended to just take a general trend from it. Is very possible of course though think we would need to see the underlying data to confirm. Wonder however if you're right on the basis of alot of what I hear Padraig Harrington talking about these days in terms of his swing speed training and using it to increase his 'comfortable' swing speed on the course rather than his out and out top speed. Being able to swing within yourself but at an ever increasing speed for more distance is potentially the key which may back up your original point in that the best players swing very fast but potentially not the fastest as at that point they are losing too much control?

Another aspect that supports this idea is that other than Bryson, none of the Long Drive Champions have managed to even get on the PGA tour let alone become top money winners. It does sound like Padraig might be on the right track with that increase in comfortably high speeds. Great video by the way! I enjoy technical analysis so keep doing what you're doing!

@@JackRainfieldI'm sure that's because Bryson is a pro golfer who dabbled in long drive and not the other way round

Looking forward to a new video. New to the game and this is my favourite channel, like how you give real world analysis and examples of real stats. Great way to manage expectations for the average golfer. Im 41 and I just started playing this year for the first time ever. I'm terrible, but I got the bug. Would love to hear your thoughts on a brand new player Looking to get better, equipment, game plan, training strategy, lessons, area to focus on, anything really. Thanks for sharing great content.

Huge thanks for your comment and support. It is much appreciated. We are working hard to try and get as much content out as we can across multiple mediums and hoping to be able to have capacity to get more videos out soon. Great news also on starting up this year and a very warm welcome to this great game! Hope you’re continuing to enjoy it as the season progresses. Advice wise for a brand new player key things we think are simply to try and spend as much time out playing as you can and where possible make sure all your practice is ‘purposeful’. In other words don’t make mistake I did over all these years or just aimlessly hitting balls. Whether it’s from a coach or a launch monitor at the range try and always get some feedback on shots and always be aiming at the target! And don’t spend too much money on equipment to start with or be too hard on yourself! This game is hard and everyone finds it tough even the pros! Key areas to focus on also are just trying to stop 3 putts where you can and getting a swing you’re comfortable with and can build on. Are also some great online tips out there from Hack it Out Podcast, Andrew Rice and Lou Stagner on stats would also recommend taking a look at. And please keep us posted of your progress! Good luck! 👍

That's why I watch the LPGA, their swing speeds are closer to mine and I learn course management from watching them.
