Aldi is no brother company of Lidl. I work at Lidl in Germany and yes, we have to scan a certain amount of articles per minute (35-40 articles). This is not sad, that's just the way how discounters work in Germany. You have to work really fast (not only at the cash register) so the company doesn't need to hire too many people. But she's doing it way too fast, my boss would call that unfriendly to customers. Aldi and Lidl are two different companies, but still they have two things in common: They are both discounters and of German origin.

Kat Ly It would be good for the customers, indeed. But it's really bad for Lidl when you skip too many barcodes, because at the end of the year at the stocktaking it would look like these articles were stolen. It's a great loss for the company.

I work at Aldi and the customers don’t know that we’re being time. We suppose to Alberta able to ring up 43 items per minute. So whenever the customers complain that I rush through their stuffs, I have to explain our system and this happen constantly

Hhmmm that store reminds me of Aldi grocery store We have to put in a quater in the cart slot to get the cart and then bring our own bags because they dont use plastic bags and then once your done using there cart you put it back in the place where they load the carts and you get your quater back

Spoken like a true person who has never worked at one of these stores. Not having to bag doesn’t make you fast enough for the company’s standards. That takes practice and isn’t easy. Especially when people buy glass or heavy items.

Depends on where you live, what stores and if there are courtesy clerks. I work at Fry's, if I don't have a bagger unfortunately I am forced to bag because half the customers will sit there and stare at their items being shot down the belt and refuse to bag. It's truly irritating, like you said it holds up the line for other customers.

That's the better setup to have for cashiers. Where I work, they have us stand behind the scanner, with the bags in between us and the scanner. It makes things a lot less speedy. Simply put, the way they have things set up in this store is more efficient

This store is called Lidl. Kind of like Aldi. I work at one in the U.S. Just like Aldi, our “products per minute” are timed and they want us really fast. Our job relies on it cause if you go below a number you get written up. Now don’t get me wrong, this cashier was going obnoxiously fast and she could’ve taken it slower out of respect of the customer. But even with taking it slower, it’s still really fast for the customer. Sorry 🤷🏻♀️

I work at a grocery store in the Midwest called Jewel Osco. We have to scan 25 items per minute. I scan about 28 items per minute. A lot of the other cashiers scan so much slower. Many customers come to me because of my efficiency and fast scanning

No it’s not. These companies teach us how to properly separate and build a cart specifically for that reason. Eggs, chips, and bread go up top. Produce goes in its own location in the cart. Here’s an idea for you: put your heavy duty items first and fragile last on the belt because it’ll be put in the cart last, duh.

It's Lidl. You're not supposed to pack your bags at the checkouts. You're supposed to put them straight into the trolley and pack them at your own pack at the packing bench. It's just a common courtesy to the other customers behind you. People who insist on packing bags at the checkouts are inefficient, selfish time wasters.

+Joseph Eidsvik i find that hard to believe. if its true then bravo but i run at around 31 items per minute and 70 members per hour. and thats an 8 hour shift. i key alot though and my sign off is around 8%
