It's been fun to see what you've done putting a powerful mid drive on this frame. It's been highly informational. I see you ended up taking the z1's orginal hub motor off? Was that just to get weight down or does it run smoother with just the regular mtb hub?
@johnnypuetz4 жыл бұрын
Yes! :) I took it off mostly for the weight reason. The setup is strong enough, you don't need the hub motor anymore. But if you don't care about the weight, you can run a dual motor setup. There is a hack remove the limiter of 21mph for the orginal motor. So it don't cut off when you go faster. ;)

Sergio Luiz good question. I went the route with a mid drive because the weight is better balanced and it’s lighter than a rear hub. But I rode a few rear hub bikes like the ZOOZ bike and that was a great experience too!

The difference with a mid-drive is that you can put your power through the gears so tons of low end wheelie torque and high speed with your small gear.

Hi, pardon my ignorance but how did the sprocket change made the bike go faster? Did you swap the first one to less teeth or more? What is the Science behind it? Especially for a bike that doesn’t need pedaling. I’m really interested in swapping my single cog as well once I know the reason behind the additional speed. I hope you answer. Thanks.
@johnnypuetz4 жыл бұрын
A. Castro Adding teeth to the front and rear sprockets have opposite effects. Installing a larger countershaft sprocket creates higher gearing, while a larger rear sprocket lowers gearing. Similarly, a smaller front sprocket lowers the gearing while a smaller rear sprocket makes gearing higher.
@johnnypuetz4 жыл бұрын
Gearing a bike up to produce higher top speed with less acceleration is done using a larger countershaft (gearbox) sprocket or a smaller rear sprocket. Gearing a bike down giving it more acceleration with lower top speed is done using a smaller countershaft (gearbox) sprocket or a larger rear sprocket.
