Paul Ufema, from the channel All New Bricks, attempts to break the Guinness World Records title for the fastest time to build the LEGO® Titanic.
Paul came agonizingly close to setting his second record in 2021 but unfortunately missed a piece on his giant Millennium Falcon build - he already holds a record for the fastest time to build the LEGO® Colosseum.
The LEGO® Titanic is the largest sculpture that LEGO® produce, aside from the world map. It's the largest in terms of size, at over 165cm long.

Dang, it took me 24 hours to complete it. Amazed at how fast he did this. Then again I had a couple Titanic movies playing throughout the building process that helped me a lot.

I'm willing to bet his total time (from the moment the box is opened to completion minus any breaks he took in between) is longer than yours because he spent x number of hours painstakingly arranging the pieces onto trays in sequence. In effect, he built the model twice. I don't agree with Guinness's methodogy - timer should start the moment the box is opened.
@KianWdx
@KianWdx 2 жыл бұрын
@@zzfaithlezz exactly, part of the fun of the build for me is opening the box, organising the bags and opening each of the bags, and that takes time which should be added onto the total "build time"
@NelemNaru
@NelemNaru 2 жыл бұрын
@@zzfaithlezz No. That would mean having to buy an extra set for every attempt. The record is for building, not opening or organizing. It should be possible for someone to beat the record with practice: building, taking apart, building, taking apart. Olympic world records are not limited to first attempts only. Neither are video game speed runs. It would be ridiculous to make players rebuy a game for every failed speed run. Guinness's rules are fair. Nothing was built (i.e. lego pieces snapped together) before the attempt was made. Your rules would also preclude anyone buying the lego sets second hand, which is not what the record is about.
@zzfaithlezz
@zzfaithlezz 2 жыл бұрын
@@NelemNaru I would have no problem if the starting point was all loose pieces or pieces organized by type. I do have a problem with all the pre-work of arranging pieces in the sequence specified by the manual. In fact, I would love to find out how long it would take for him to take it apart and rebuild it.

@_Fuscous 2 жыл бұрын
@@soneyb6583 Because you're bad at keeping track of them. I grew up with and still actively build LEGO sets, and have never actually been missing a part. Sometimes parts can be left behind in the plastic bags, or they can "disappear" on the floor. Don't forget that pieces can also be hidden under or within other pieces. Also, if there are any weird cardboard shapes in the box (like in the LEGO ART sets), look under them, and you'll find more bags. Just make sure that if you're building a set, don't do it over a carpet floor. Those can be brutal if you drop a small piece (though sets usually include extras for the very small pieces like technic pins and 1x1s).
@bigbill10
@bigbill10 2 жыл бұрын
@@_Fuscous Nah I legitimately was missing one of the ropes for the Titanic. It seemed to have been replaced by a 2x3 brick instead because that was a leftover piece and extras are never larger bricks like that. I had to have the rope shipped to me by LEGO. It would have been in the bags like the other ropes so there's absolutely no way I missed it.

Nice job setting the record. The question I have is this. How long would it have taken you if you had to count the time you spent separating all the pieces a head of time? I watched my daughter when she first started building Legos. She would get frustrated sometimes trying to sort through all the pieces as she was building. So, now, I help my daughter with her Legos. I am the designated parts sorter. It is a time, consuming part of the job. I think that should have to be factored in when setting a record. Now, I'm not trying to take away what you've accomplished, because that is still an impressive time. I just know how much time it takes to sort through all the pieces and can't imagine how long it will take me to sort through the 9090 pieces to help her build the Titanic. Yes, I am going to take her to the Lego store Saturday, 10/7/2023, where I will spend more than I ever thought I would on any Lego set......lol Congratulations sir for your record and on a fine job building this iconic ship! I can't wait to get started!
