I took this train from Shanghai to the Pudong airport which reached 430Kpm. I'm surprised this ride only hit 300Kpm.
@peterengland61535 ай бұрын
I was there in 2008, and did 430kmh 4 times, passed other maglev 860kwh. Since May 2021 it is capped at 300kmh. It is 20 yrs old.

It's crazy that this train has been sitting at the top as the fastest commercially operating train for 20 years straight and nobody now has taken any move to try to beat that record!

@falafeldurum20954 ай бұрын
@@priyamd4759 Actually this maglev was built in Germany, we still have a test track, and the remains are rotting away. There was a plan to build a track for this maglev in Germany, but it was given up and instead the technology was sold to China. They built their track in record time, and now they even built a (? not sure how many) Transrapid train themselves. There are maglevs in Beijing and Changsha too, but at lower speeds, kind of like a faster subway. Korea has 2 maglevs too, but one is out of order. And in Japan, there is one too, also at slow speeds. Non-commercially, there are test tracks in both China and Japan trains that go up to 600km/h or even faster in the future. Normal people aren't allowed on test rides though (it used to be possible in japan) The age of the maglev is irrelevant. They capped the speed to go easy on Shanghai's power grid. Also the time of the ride isn't affected much, and most people use the subway instead (because of the price).

If China replace this ageing maglev train present cruising speed 300 kph with their new maglev train 600 kph (presently testing), it will reduce the journey time from 8 mins to 4 mins, China speed that's out of this world 😳
@mariokrings3 ай бұрын
The one who is _out of this world_ is you! 😂 The *_CF600_* uses the same technology from germany as the current train set *_TR08,_* on which he's based. The cruising speed of the current trains was set to 300 kph by the operator for certain rides during the day to save energy. Other rides with more customers still do 430 kph. The train set itself however is set for cruising speeds up to 550 kph, which can't be reached, because the track has a length of only around 30 km. That being said it's obvious, that the *_CF600_* won't go any faster than 430 kph either. China isn't going to replace the *_TR08_* train sets any time soon. What they consider to do is testing the *_CF600_* on the tracks, because they are longer as the test track of the university where CRRC is developing the *_CF600_* together with ThyssenKrupp.

@@mariokrings Sorry but I don't see Germany's maglev train going 430km/h
@mariokrings3 ай бұрын
@@jixuanwu4009 I'm sorry for you, because you obviously missed this beautiful opportunity. 😂 The trains are able to go 430 kph on this line, there are plenty of videos on youtube to prove it. Maybe they don't do it anymore, but they did it for 20 years, so it's actually pretty pointless to discuss. The reason to drop the faster trips is their energy consumption and Shanghai's problems to provide enough power. The train itself can even go 550 kph depending on track profile. For further information just read my comment above.

Originally it was set and used to 400km/he when there were less stops in between. They have since capped it out at 300-350 km/hr first safety reasons due to short travel distances and increase in the number of in between stops. When I last ride it in 2010 in max at 400.

Soon that maglev train (from the airport) will not be the fastest in the world anymore. China has come up with even a faster one. A whopping 1000 km/hr (620 miles/hr) train.
@mariokrings3 ай бұрын
yeah well, this train is only a plan and not even a concept vehicle exist. I highly doubt that they will realize that, because air drag will be killing it's efficiency. On the other hand china is big and it is still better than a plane..... so maybe they will realize it, but that will take at least 15-20 years. Even in China.... look how long Elon Musk is working on his Hyperloop....

If there are a lot of bends or turns then is not possible to go 400km, if it was a long staight run than it would go faster.
@litespАй бұрын
Obviously, top speed is attained when going straight. Around bends, the train banks and still maintains speeds over 200Kph. Super smooth.
@litespАй бұрын
There are straight sections where trains does exceed 400kph.
