It is a soft shell turtle. If you ever accidentally startle them while you are walking by a river bank or creek, they will take off even faster than that! They swim very quick as well! 😁

You mean as in the groupings. Because there are other turtles species such as the olive redley sea turtles and leatherback sea turtles. Soft shells are a specific group. But that doesn’t mean they’re the only ones with soft shells.

I remember one day going to my english lessons, where everytime I went there I crossed a huge desolate forest-like park in the middle of the city. In there lived several kinds of animals due to the lack of humans, including tortoises. Anyway, one day I was walking up the stone steps lost in my thoughts, until something fucking zoomed past me, so I turned around to see a a tortoise *galloping,* yes, galloping down the steps like a cartoon character. I went home after and told everyone. No one believed me in their own right.

Softshell turtles (genus Apalone to be specific) aren't rare. They are quite common.

We took in a Chinese Softshell after his owner abandoned him. They are amazing creatures. We have him and his other turtle friend that came with him (not a soft shell) in a 120 gallon tank. Much better than the previous owner who had him in a 40 gallon tank. He loves it in there! When he stretches everything out he is at least 2 ft long! He is definitely the king of the castle and rearranges everything in there. He likes to pull the air lines out and move stuff all over. We don't have a lot in there because they can damage their shells. Plenty of sand on the bottom, as he likes to completely bury himself!

Most turtles are due to their hard sturdy shell not allowing for much flexibility. This is a species of soft shell turtle which by its name has a soft shell. This allows for more flexibility and thus greater movement which in turn leads to faster running.

That species of turtle have unbelievably long necks. In fact long enough to be able to reach all the way back and nip you if he decides to while you hold him "safely" from tail. Turtles are cool in their own way.

That is a soft shelled water turtle, they look like a wobbly plate skipping across the ground. They also make excellent dumplings! In case u can't tell I'm a country boy lol.
