Wet blending is one of the major blending methods in miniature painting. If you want to paint cloaks or skin, wet blending is perfect solution! Of course you can go ahead and use it on space marine armor, but natural surfaces are the best for wet blending.
Note, that I am painting this sister of battle and I am wet blending small reflections on her armor. If you have brush that is good enough, you will manage to wet blend even small surfaces on all miniatures.
Wet blending is one of the most time efficient miniature painting methods out there and I can not recommend it enough for all natural surfaces, like capes, cloaks, skintones etc. It is one of the more advanced miniature painting methods, but once you master wet blending, it is definitely worth it, as it will save you so much time!
If you have any question on how to wet blend on the miniatures, leave a comment below and I will be happy to assist you.

I’m new to the hobby in the scheme of things about 7-8 months now and I’ve done quite well off the hop but now that I’ve gotten more comfortable with the brush I’ve been trying more difficult techniques and wetblending is one of them and it’s the first time in my hobby career that I feel like I’ve hit a wall in really struggling with it. So I’m back to the drawing board watching KZfaq videos

Very nice job on those minis! :) I'd say that wet blending is not hard, but *tricky*, there's a hang to it. When it clicks in your head it's actually very damn easy and sometimes becomes almost automatic, but before that it feels just weird, like "wait, you're rubbing these paints together? like, in the mini? what?". Videos like this that show the process simply and quickly are great!
@Zumikito
@Zumikito 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Oh yea, that is true, it is actually simple and easy technique with specific nuances that are difficult to grasp at first, especially when you find that paints interact with each other differently. For example it was easier for me to blend the skin here rather than the green suit

top notch work, 5 minutes is definitely the right amount of time here. I think its worth mentioning that if you are worried about the under coat showing through (at least in my experience) a darker paint will cover over lighter paint better than the reverse. so if you lay down a light undercoat, you may want to put the light color further into the dark area than you would normally expect to. really excellent work!! instant subscription from me!

I am 45, when I was a kid playing warhammer we used to tie 2 brush together back to back with elastic bands, and the brushes were always wet and with no paint on them. paint the surface with water, paint immediately paint, then use he double brush dip it thin it, flip it, we used to even thin n flip that brush so fast it was almost instant.. wet blending seems to have become dying art.. I was no slouch but all the best painters I knew as a kid were masters of it

I like a lot your 5min videos: very informative and efficient format. I recently tried wet blending and typically use it on small surfaces with various tones of the same color, to simulate reflection as you show on the model: much more efficient than glazing in that case and on a small surface the effect is still satisfactory hence the best compromise en terms of result/time spent

I love the enthusiasm, if you are quick enough you won't need paint retarders.... are those in hotter climates a joke to you?... lol. Good video and enjoying the quick format.

I feel somewhat overwhealmed by all this. I started painting some minis, lots of people told me they are quite nice for a beginner. Now I do know about so many techniques, I have so much stuff here, so many colors, airbrush, every toy that is out there, light, flow improvers, brush cleaners, oh, brushes, tons of them....and now I just can't get myself into it anymore. I just don't know where to start. Choosing from the 200 colors is impossible, which technique, which mini...and don't get me started about that airbrush, that never works like I want it to work, and all that cleaning, those needles, omg.....it's a very frustrating hobby so far for me. I WANT to do it, it relaxes me deeply, once I started. But I can't start anymore, didn't paint a mini in 4 months now. I sometimes sit at my painting table and think "that's a nice mini, I should paint it!" I stare on it for a while, turn around then and watch videos about mini painting. Uff.

Oh damn, I am sorry to hear that. I think it's time to actually stop watching videos and start painting my dude. Tune in your favourite podcast (preferably not about mini painting) and get to it. Having too little information is bad, but being overwhelmed by too much info is way worse.

Very concise explanation. Thank you . I also appreciate that you have accurate subtitles , far more so than KZfaq usually manages - do you do them yourself?
