Something that helped to inspire me, was to imagine that I was the title character in a film about myself, and then imagine how the costume designer for that film would dress my character. What is the essence of that character, and what clothes and accessories, would they chose to communicate it to the viewers of the movie?

I've been through some huge changes in my life over the past few years and lost a lot of weight. Now I'm trying to find my style again. It's been so helpful watching your video, thanks! I love jeans and t-shirts too and and my wardrobe is nearly all black. I've always heard my Mum's words 'you should wear more color, black washes you out' ringing in my ears. Now I've decided to ignore that and wear what I feel good in.

Hi Emily. I love your videos. Also love the music and sexy wink in the beginning. My issue was (still is) too much confidence. However in a business office environment my creative boho eclectic style doesn't mesh with my career goals and aspirations. Therefore as if mature I need a more mature classic wardrobe (not boring) which is all feminine, sophisticated and elegant. I'm still de-cluttering my wardrobe. I already have all the "basic" items however chose to wear something more "me" but fun. Great lesson.

I have the Skagen. Don’t know if they are still around, but they are fun. I hate to admit that I have probably ten watches, expensive and reasonable priced ones like the Skagen. Great advice here. My look has always been jeans, and blazer. Having fun with the shirt underneath, and a great shoe. I feel like to edgy hair is key.

I used to live for September Vogue every fall even though I wouldn’t necessarily replicate those clothes I could approximate them somewhat. Unfortunately no more. I appreciate these suggestions especially evaluating what I like about my favorite pieces. Thanks for all you do😊

Talking about opening to inspiration reminded me about how I felt after having my colors done. I’d always liked summer colors, and when I found out I was a winter, I took my chart and tried on everything I could find that were colors on my chart. It was amazing. I remember finding a very pale gray silk blouse. I’d worn gray uniforms from 1-8th grades and gray was not my favorite color. I tried the blouse on to prove it was ugly. I bought it!

🤯 went to closet, picked out my favs (either because they look great on me or they make me happy) and everything was either long/uninterrupted (pantsuit in my skin tone, mechanic’s jumpsuit, small print floral maxi dress - I have long limbs which would makes that attribute extra flattering) or a pattern that made me smile. I knew I was classic/minimalist/playful so this was a nice incremental unlock. You are the cheat code.

Trigger warning: Hair LOL I know I'm in the minority here, but post-chemo circa 2015, I cannot get excited about my hair because of bald patches and hair changes that I've addressed in myriad ways but nothing works. It also only grows to around my ears now and stops. I've been wearing pixies since 2015 simply because my hair won't grow to where it's more flattering for my face, which would be at the collar bone. And not all of us look good in pixies, anyway. ::shrug:: I know there are other people who suffer similar and the same, so I'm just highlighting here that not everyone can say, It'll grow back, and not everyone can be excited about their hair. (And anyone thinking a wig fixes everything doesn't really understand the dilemma that is a loss of Self, and loss of control over how we can fully express our inner selves on the outside via appearance.) Love the video apart from that ;)

Roberta…During chemo I’ve discovered hats! Now I’m known for wearing hats, it’s become my own personal style. Find a style that becomes you, buy it in several different colors. Wigs for me , just wasn’t me. 🙂

Emily. I am 78 and live in New Zealand. I follow your channel, as I certainly aspire to being edgy chic! Congratulations on your pregnancy. Two babies? - what?? The edgy chic group of maternity wear garments you present in this video, is outstandingly good styling and design. Never seen anything quite like it. Definitely commercially viable! And you'd be doing pregnant women a service.
