Hype play style is too good

You're going to have to point out some specifics otherwise this criticism sounds a little platitude-y. Yes fatality went for some things that didn't pan out, but he usually tries to dominate his opponents in the First to 10s as a way of throwing himself wholly into the matchup. Trying to punish from disadvantage isn't a bad thing either--there were some times that it worked and times that it didn't. Glutony's advice works where it is applicable, but that doesn't mean that everyone assesses risk and reward the same. A lot of the issues were match-up specific. Yunk has great out of shield options, stage control, and edge guarding potential. Honestly Falcon is simply trying to pick apart openings wherever young link makes a mistake (so punishing in disadvantage is necessary to gain ground if there's an opening). I'm js it's not that simple.

Very true, it’s a bad matchup for falcon. In the later matches you can see that clearly because ylink has a million projectiles, a sword, a hookshot for grabs and decent recovery that allows for mixups. And then, when falcon can get through the hailstorm of shit being slung at him, link has good OOS options to knock him back and start the process all over again. Plus he does good damage and shield pressure. Fun matchup to watch, but disadvantage does exist and when you get two really good players, you see it manifest like it did the last several games.

@Imraz Khan I think it’s kinda like a Melee Pikachu situation. Fatality doesn’t carry Falcon, Fatality is just the best at utilizing the tools that Falcon always has. Just like how Axe in Melee is the best at utilizing the tools Pikachu always has. Gluttony was still an insane Wario in Smash 4, and became a top player when Wario had the tools to be a top tier in Ultimate. I don’t think Falcon’s trash, it’s just that Fatality is the only Falcon player to utilize his full potential. And I feel like potential is what justifies how good or bad a character is. There’s a lotta top tiers in Ultimate that haven’t won a major but they’re top tier because they can. Sorry for the essay just wanted to share my thoughts on it lol.

I have to disagree. He played young link just like all online players do. I didn’t see anything advanced here. Very rarely did he use his projectiles for combos. Props to fatality because that shit looked exhausting to play against.

Toest is much better. Fatality just played like ass this game, which is disappointing.

@@sorastereo7197 cope harder fr tho u capping, at least half his combos had projectiles, likely more. not to mention how he was using items to control space and ruthlessly pressure fatality in the corner like I agree neither of them were playing at their best, but this shit was played well

@@FerousFolly Yeah I was surprised with the comment above. I know characters get discredited for pressing B even a single time but you have to try really hard to not acknowledge his item/projectile play, Jdizzle played so well here

Top teirs are overrated, people will play better with characters they like rather than what the stats say

There is an argument to be made that both samus and yink are at the bottom of top tier imo, just depends on how many characters you think should be in there.

100%, I tend to lose to people that use zoners mainly bc I mostly use characters like CF, Ken, and Roy who don’t have any zoning tools asides from hadouken lmao

I still think Ult Falcon is mediocre, even after countless buffs. I see so many top players claim he's borderline top tier and it just leaves me scratching my head. Falcon loses to almost every top/high tier character and struggles against many mid and low tiers. A good Kirby player can be a struggle for a good Falcon player, and Kirby is one of the worst in the entire game. He's just not good in Ultimate, especially when you have characters like Roy or ZSS who do everything Falcon does, but much better.

@@benskxI completely agree here. I really think people aren't taking into account Falcon's kit. Yes, Falcon has a CRAZY punish game. I mean, he can kill you off of very small mistakes, but generally if you're playing neutral correctly...he theoretically should never have the chance to. His run speed is high, but his dash speed sucks by comparison to a lot of characters with much stronger neutrals who will just run away from him. His punish game is great, but his lack of out of shield options means that he's going to have a hard time forcing the issue if you don't decide to swing at him wildly. Falcon is like a gatekeeper. He'll keep you honest, but he's just the doorman. But goddamn do I love to watch him work :). Hype character, it's just a shame that the meta he lives in doesn't give him the opportunity to make use of his tool kit. Granted, obviously people are going to make more openings than not and this game's meta isn't so ironclad that falcon will successfully be kept out the whole match, but theoretically, what is he supposed to do if Yink just wants to projectile him to death? It was a genuine jaw dropper to me to see fatality starting behind by 60-80% first stock of every match just trying to get in.

Young link really doesn’t have speed that changes the game. It’s strictly his projectiles and the confirms he has of them. Also have one of the best nairs in the game helps him a lot.

Maybe he didn’t see it very useful vs. falcon. Idk the matchup because I’m actually a toon link main. I don’t use zair that often vs falcon but I’m wondering if it’s a matchup thing for j dizzle or it’s just a young link thing

@@blast5734 I'm not sure. Yink has the better Z-Air. It's faster, safe on shield at a variety of distances, combos, and sets up for kill confirms.

@@PrecludeLP I would agree on its utility if it weren’t for the fact that even Toast doesn’t use it as much. Nobody is punishing toon link zair on shield anyways it’s a 1 frame difference.

I’d rather watch Jdizzle vs Colinies for the ditto. Colinies has a more balanced neutral mixing weak hit aerials and tilts with projectiles for his combos. Skittles generally relies more on projectile combos strings for his setups, but that’s not really as optimal in the ditto and got really boring and repetitive against his match with Colinies, which he lost to. Skittles is generally more hype outside the ditto imo. Jdizzle's setups and ledge pressure is pretty deadly tho. My money’s on him for sure for either ditto.

I agree, but although he may lack restraint, he has begun building up a lot of moment with this style and is finally starting to pull ahead with it with his placings. In essence it seems like he’s slowly learning to play around it. Reminds me of early ultimate Tweek, who’s style was the complete opposite - extremely careful and patient. He eventually synthesized it with more aggressive play in his Diddy and really started popping off. Where am I going with this? I think he’ll eventually strike a balance. It may not be as defensive though, it’s looking a bit more read reliant instead.

First off, it's JDizzle, second, he's the best young link in Australia and the best player as well and third, he's no slouch so not sure what's so funny about that or where you're coming from with this energy. Its a fucking FT10, not brackets lol.
