Today we had a lot of fun with two coal fired live steam Locomotives.

I love this sort of stuff I have built many R/C boats and 2 steam engines for my boats.. just a question.. where does the radio gear go and how is it connected to the engine, please..

See 00:00, 00:25 and 07:42 onwards. Battery and radio receiver gear are on the underside of the cab roofs. Servos are stacked in the sides of the cab, or in the side "water" panniers.

Love this, very envious! Do the locos have mechanical injectors? And are the boilers tubed? Is the other circuit non-steam?

Thanks for your compliments. There are nu mechanical injectors we use water top up bottles to refill the locomotive under pressure. There are two tubes in the boiler. All the circuits are electric but can also used for live steam.

Gruß aus Bielefeld,Deutschland. Großartige Anlage mit weiten Radien und vielfältigen Fahrmöglichkeiten! Mich würde ein Blick aus der Vogelperspektive interessieren, um den aufwendigen Gleisplan erfassen zu können...Ich fahre auch mit live steam allerdings auf Gas. Ist es mit richtiger Kohle viel aufwendiger und pflegeintensiver?

Hoi Dick, gave locs! Lijkt me erg leuk om met echte kolengestookte locs aan de gang te gaan, ik ben nu eerst bezig met mijn gasgestookte loc onder controle te krijgen. Maar mijn doel is om ooit aan kolengestookte locs te beginnen. Zit er eigenlijk veel verschil tussen de Riverdale en de Casper qua bedieningsgemak en dergelijke?

Ja, de Riverdale is eenvoudiger te stoken en op stoom te houden. De Casper is geavanceerder en geeft door de aspomp een nog natuurgetrouwere stoom beleving.

Seems these run on hard anthracite coal, is it because soft coal would make too much of a mess inside them?

Exactly, anthracite burns to ashes an prevents blocking the fire grate.

Not to mention, lignite didn’t get hot enough to build up steam. Maybe in the caboose stove to stay warm. Lol!

Schitterend! Komen er binnen Nederland nog stoomdagen waar er met zulke modellen word gereden? Ik heb er 2 maar weet niet hoe ik ze moet laten rijden bang iets fout te doen,,
