Based in Doncaster, England, birthplace of some of the worlds most famous main line steam locomotives, Roundhouse has been building engines in SM32, SM45 and G Scale since 1982, and they are in operation on garden railways around the world, bringing the sights and sounds that only live steam offers, to thousands of satisfied operators.
This is a longer version of a video used on the Roundhouse stand at the recent Warley Model Railway Exhibition which features more footage of trains running in the garden hauled by past and present Roundhouse engines

Oh! how wonderful to find a video where you can actually hear the sounds of the engines and the track - none of that silly, inapropriate and sometimes just awful music that far too many people think they've got to add to their videos.

A nice showcase of Roundhouse Locomotives. It was great to see them running on so many different layouts.

Hi Casey, glad you enjoy watching it. Its a few years old now so some of the newer locos don't feature, but the idea was as you say to show off a selection of Roundhouse locos, and they did in fact use the video on their stand at a few shows.

With my compliments for lay-out, is very nice and impressive. I have a lot of Roundhouse locomotives, gas and coal fired and I think that Roundhouse make machines more interesting for durability and affidability!

Thanks for the comment Fabrizio. The video includes several different layouts in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire including the Butterleu Garden Railway at the Midland Heritage Railway Centre. Glad you like your Roundhouse locos. Have a look at www.16mm.org and if you visit the UK www.nationalgardenrailwayshow.org for details of the largest garden railway show with lots of Roundhouse and Accucraft models on show and for sale.

How do you put the batterys in the roof of the steam locos for RC
@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting
@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting 4 ай бұрын
Depends on the loco, a number of mine have on board rechargeable packs so you need to partially dismantle the bodywork if you need to replace them, others like the Silver Lady the cab roof hinges to one side and the battery holder slides out from mounts built in to the roof

Thanks Andy, glad you liked it. One of the advantages of being a member of the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers is access to other members tracks through an extensive programme of "open days" so that you don't actually need to have your own line to run on. There are even layouts at locations such as the Midland Railway Centre and Severn Valley Railway

@@andydunn5673 it works for me! Here in Nottinghamshire there are several Association Members lines all within less than 30 minutes of where I live, plus the Butterley Garden Railway at the Midland heritage railway. Association membership also brings public liability insurance for running your locos amongst other people and some excellent publications including a guide to 16mm modelling - www.16mm.org.uk

Hi Ron, Very enjoyable. However it would be really nice if there were some indication of the names of the various garden lines which occur in the video please. They are very atmospheric and would be a good source of inspiration if we knew which they were and could follow them up.

The vintage Lady Anne is at the Butterley Garden Railway at the Midland Railway Centre, then the Darj Garratt is on the Ashfield's Light Railway of Ian Shield's, various factory shots including their indoor test track, then back to the ALR and various onboard and passing shots with the Darj and Karen, back to Butterley and the new diesels, the raised line with all the spirals is Bob Newton's, then we are at Nev Brown's Inham Valley Railway, followed by Tag Gorton's Longland and Western. You can see more of all these lines elsewhere on the Brockle Broadcasting channel and if you are a member of the 16mm Association some feature on the Annual Members DVD

I agree. Putting the name of the model on the screen (out of the way so as not to interrupt our view of the loco and train) would be a great help. Good marketing too. I could then go to the Roundhouse website and scout out specs and prices. Great video! Keep up the good work!

I don't think that they have a great turnover of staff Dennis, but you would have to get in touch with Roundhouse to see if there are any vacancies - see their website : www.roundhouse-eng.com email : sales@roundhouse-eng.com

G'day, I should have made it like a tongue in cheek expression (joke) I'm too old to go back to the UK from Australia, but that would be aa wonderful job, it is no wonder they don't have a high turnover of staff, I have a 'Billie' but would love a 'Dargeeling Garrat' but finances won't allow it, many thanks for posting the clip it is superb, I have watched it several times taking in a lot of detail, cheers Dennis

Yes that would be something of a commute to Doncaster Dennis! The Darj garrat is a nice piece of kit although personally I prefer the styling of the NGG16 and similar, and you can see why it costs as much as it does, but there seem to be sufficient people with deep enough pockets to keep the production line going. If you've not watched the video we shot of one of the first of these locos running on the Ashfield's Light Railway have a look - the video is exactly as it happened with the loco running straight out of the shipping carton.

ACB Books Agreed! everyone drives them too fast, a scale model doing a scale 80 mph! lol and all without a driver
@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting
@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting 7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you're in the hands of the drivers regarding speed, however there are a couple of 16mm manufacturers producing after market devices such as a scale speedo wagon and a device called the "Slo-mo" which adds inertia to a live steam loco. Slowing down in editing can address the visuals, but would be very time consuming to also make the sound appropriate and not distorted
