Father swans are known for nurturing the babies . Which is very rare for males in nature .

Very normal for father swan to protect and nurture the babies whether or not mother or swan is alive. Still always lovely to see though ❤

In Malay weddings in old days, they would give a pair of swans decoration with a hole at the back which you could put things. I always thought of it as being cute but only now I know that in real life, it is possible for the swan body to indeed carry things.

Carry 4 or 5 babies on our backs? I'd certainly hope not. If you are referring to a single father looking after his kids; you know full damn well they do and it is nonsense like yours that ensures sexist discrimination in court.

Hope Atticus can find himself another loving mate next year 💞

they mate for life just like ducks, he may not find another mate..if he was with the mother for a long time it could be a few years or never. Her death is no small thing to him, after he raises the babies he may not want another mate.

@@jamesspencer3016 - I spoke to a rescue vet up in Roc NY. It is possible he can find another mate, but it's really an individual thing. This vet has a back area where he heals and cares for water fowl over the winter if they can't leave. I had him take in a cygnet when it was injured and couldn't migrate. I watched it grow up and just couldn't let "nature take its course". Broke my heart to see it all alone. She's fine now and off doing what swans do 💖 Years ago we had a beautiful pair of Mallards in our area. They'd walk down our street, announcing they were here! We loved them, and they'd be back every your. Lord and Lady Drake. Our idiot neighbor let his GSH loose and it tore the female into pieces. Her mate walked up and down our street calling for her for weeks. Came back alone the next year, looking for her. There's always a chance this cob can find another pen, but nothing is absolute. They DO tend to mate for life. Bittersweet

I did not know ducks mate for a life i was walking across a bridge and saw a female duck stuck in the water..the male nearby,I had just gotten off work was in shorts and flip flops so i got into the water to free her..It was snapping turtle and he had ripped her belly open her guts were hanging out..i knew she would not make it. there was a guy working with a shovel on the bank i told him about it and asked for his shovel so i could end her fast..i then put the body back into the water so it could rejoin the cycle. the mallard came back and looked at it and i felt bad..told a friend about it that's when he told me they mate for life. I felt bad about him but not putting her body back in the water..maybe it would keep the turtle who eats her from doing it to the next.

@@jamesspencer3016 - It's hard to see Nature doing its thing. Water fowl usually do mate for life, but there are some that also like to have "affairs" Those are the ones who might find another mate. 😄 Duck, especially little ones, are on the menu of a few not-so-nice predators. It was nice you tried to help the duck - hope her mate was one of the promiscuous ones. We can hope !

@@pawwalker3492 TY it still stays in my mind a bit..I fish and yeah know what yer talking about. Male Swans in Asian culture are regarded as symbol for being a good father. Swan fathers were men that left to other lands to make money but sent most if it back home for their children-wife. And in the Mongol creation myth Tengri was a great male Swan and all life came from under his wings.
