The compensating pressure direction is outward from the flange face. Why is it so? Why it is not towards the flange face?

Thanks for all effort you made! I just want to known how to consider thermal load in such fatigue analysis. Do we need to add third & 4th base case with (1) and (-1). I am just to confuse how to consider pressure and temp flactuation in same analysis or soln combination?
@graspengineering9249

It is based on your vessel duty cycle. As per ASME thermal and static peak and valley conditions are done separately and then combined (refer our another video on ASME fatigue). If you are looking to add pressure plus thermal, then first do higher combined (pressure and temperature) case and (lower pressure & temperature) case, then use solution combination and fatigue tool. You can even do separately all the case pressure (1) and temperature (1) add then (1+1=a) and similarly run lower pressure (1) and temperature case (1), add them (1+1=b) and then further use solution combination fatigue load case (a-b).

Thank you sir, for the detailed video. Can you please tell me why it is required for 4-5 elements across the thickness when this is just a linear elastic analysis (usually we go with 3 I think). Also can you please make a video on how to decide mesh sizes for various structures and scenarios? Thanks in advance.
@graspengineering9249
@graspengineering9249 2 жыл бұрын
If you have higher elements across thickness it will capture bending properly. 3 parabolic (second order) and 4-5 linear elements are okay. Try to analyze Corse and fine mesh case at your end.

Hi , in ANSYS 2021 student version the option for auto-close loops is not available , kindly help as to how to develop path for Stress linearisation. Thank you.
@graspengineering9249
@graspengineering9249 2 жыл бұрын
You can use other option for slicing then instead of auto-close loops. Even you can do stress linearization without slicing also, just use top and bottom surface node to connect the stress linearization path.

Very helpful video. I was a new person. I have a question can you answer for me?. stress when using ansys max. 421.93 MPa. Now I take the data of 421.93 Mpa to compare with the yield stress of steel (about 250Mpa depending on the type of steel) If so, is the nozzle drawing unsatisfactory? So must harden it=>> is this correct?
@graspengineering9249
@graspengineering9249 2 жыл бұрын
If your structure stresses are exceeding yield stress, It means structure is failed as per yield limit criteria. But check the max. stress value is localize or not. sometime max. stress values are localize in few elements which can be ignored.

Thank you for your video, Why do you consider Compensating Pressure or Compensating Load on the nozzle? While there is no cap nor blind flange connected to the nozzle.
@graspengineering9249
@graspengineering9249 2 жыл бұрын
The nozzle will not be open for such high pressure condition. There will be always blind flange or other connections.

@@graspengineering9249 Thank you for the reply. I mean if nozzle is connected to the piping system with a mating flange, still we need to consider Compensating Pressure or Compensating Load ?
@hsg5630
@hsg5630 2 жыл бұрын
@@pouria4664 In short Yes. The thrust force due to pressure will be there. Only if the end is open to atmosphere then there will not be any thrust.
@graspengineering9249
@graspengineering9249 2 жыл бұрын
@@pouria4664 We need to simulate actual site condition. If you will keep open nozzle then due to applied internal pressure it will try to move out which does not happen in actual case, hence it always recommended to replicate actual site condition boundary conditions.

For Fatigue Assessments Tables of Part 5 shall be included, e.g. Tables 5.3 & 5.4 in case of Elastic Analysis. How can we include load combinations as per table 5.3 and 5.4?
@graspengineering9249
@graspengineering9249 Жыл бұрын
You can select based on the loads your equipment will experience during its lifetime and consider most saviour load case combination. Its is basically included in design or user design specification.
