This is a short, sweet review of the Fatip Grande safety razor, made in Italy. A solid performer, this is a simple three-piece razor with an open comb. It responds well to different blades and gives smooth performance every time. Some finish issues are present, but this should not disqualify this razor from entering your shave den.

I ordered one now. Not grande, i ordered the picollo. It costs me 15 Euro included shipping. That is a cheap razor! Looking forward using it! Thanks for the review! Jens

Fatip are awesome, I have a grande black chrome and a piccolo nickel, both open comb. With Feather I always get deep and clean shaves, even with my delicate skin and strong beard.

I have the same razor. V1 Fatip grande. I like it. Light touch is all you need. Heavy pressure is not needed and possibly dangerous. Also, one pass is usually enough. Even half dull blades feel good in this razor. The new version (V2) with a smaller blade overhang/exposure is considerably milder but some people think it's less fun with a much less blade feel. Also, I prefer grande handle over piccolo. I think they offer a better grip.

Sometimes these go as low as $19 and they are the best razor value around. This razor competes with almost anything in my opinion.

I was thinking of buying one of these as I am a big Italophile and these are made on Lake Como where I go on holiday. They are also very reasonably priced. However I have only been DE shaving a few months and I hear this thing is very unforgiving. I bought a Parker 24C open comb as my second DE (after an Edwin Jagger DE89) on recommendation from Leisureguy and that gives a stunning shave:forgiving yet close and it's better than the EJ. I heard this is a different kettle of fish though. Should I hold off Adam?

+mattbod I would agree with your assessment. However, there are other versions, like the Piccolo, that I haven't tried. They might be more mild. This was a very smooth shaver, in my opinion. However, I've been wet shaving for many, many years.... :)
