Omg yes so many of my faves here too! Ran to put The Devil of Nanking on my TBR. Yay Harrow County I never hear people talk about that one! That started my love for comics. Theres going to be a 4 issue run starting in December going back to HC, not quite sure what it will be about... Have you read Locke and Key? That is probably my all time fave horror comic. Yessss The Ruins. I was SHOCKED when we started to realize what the horror element was. So good. 👏

Same goes with Bird Box; I haven't read it yet but I have read Unbury Carol. I also appreciate that you showed love for Kin and Harrow County. Sorry to be all over the place but have you read Cold Moon Over Babylon or The Blackwater Saga by Michael McDowell? Both are awesome. Excellent video and picks.

Baby Teeth is so good! Well, bad, really. But wow yes the demon child rep was strong in this one. It reminded me of We Need to Talk about Kevin but with a completely different trajectory half way through. I've read My Sister Rosa recently in hopes of finding another strong bad child book but it was not up to the Baby Teeth bar. Also, one of my subscribers told me that in the UK, Baby Teeth is called Bad Apple. Fitting, right?

Thank you! I been happy as a clam with YT recommending these type of videos and I downloaded a lot of your recs. "The Troop" seriously disturbed me, I loved it. Now " The Girl Next Door" is a very hard read like it is a hard movie. Worse: it's based on a TRUE STORY which makes it event worse.

Oh my god I wish I could express to you accurately how much of a help this video is to me tonight. Im a huge obsessed comic book reader, movie/series watcher, story gamer.. I try very hard to read and play everything out there that I hear good things of or sound interesting to me. The only thing I’m really missing out on in the world of fiction I love so much is actual books. I’m one who has an extreme unquenchable thirst for “dark fucked up shit” as you say haha I’ve watched several videos tonight with people giving their opinions on books I should read but you are the only person i have found in all the videos tonight that I believe will lead me to something I will love. Because when you mention graphic novels midway I was curious hmm what does she like and maybe gimme a clue of what your taste is in things I know.. when you pulled out Wytches and Ice cream man I got goose bumps. Seriously haha. Those comic books mean the world to me, I love how dark and detailed they are. They’re by far two of my most favorites I own. So when you showed that I knew you had similar taste to mine. So I have bought all of the books you recommended on amazon and I’m excited to read them for myself.

All the books sound amazing, I read Bird Box when it first came out and it is one of my favorites, I love the movie too. I also loved The Troop! Just have a question - do any of these novels have any animal cruelty/abuse, etc. in them? I cannot handle reading about that, it will upset me for weeks!

I have read the Devil of Nanking was a good read although I have mixed feelings on it. It’s unsettling and not a book I would want to pick up again. I have reserved all of these books to start reading! I recommend Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. My gosh, I love that book

Just finished KIN recently and I said the same thing. In the middle I started reading slower and skipping days of reading it because I never wanted it to end. Could you be referring to "rebirth"? Haha, or maybe the description of "Mama in bed"? Both scenes were disgustingly wonderful. And I also loved The Ruins. Awsome book! I actually read that right before KIN.

Currently reading The Ruins and I'm actually putting it off because I don't want it to end... There's a movie adaptation but I don't want it to ruin the book for me.. Still halfway done with the book
