electricbikereview.com/forum/... Hi guys! While visiting BULLS today I got to spend some time with their new Fazua models (the Wild Flow EVO RS and Alpine Hawk EVO). Both use the Fazua (pronounced Fahd-Zua) drive system. I called the company and asked all of my questions about the power, torque, controller readings, and options... and really learned a lot! So, I filmed this little review and wanted to share the details since it might take a bit more time to publish the bikes. Overall, the motor is capable and definitely made climbing easier... even steep off road climbing was made possible for me, eve with my knee sensitivity. The motor does make some whining noises and the battery capacity is limited. There's no shift detection, no USB charging ports, the battery must be turned on before the handlebar control pad can activate the system (which is annoying because if the battery is locked to the frame, this takes extra time). I wasn't able to figure out walk mode or activating lights, which was interesting given that the BULLS Wild Flow EVO RS has Monkey Link lights. Perhaps someone here can chime in? All of my research findings are listed below, all weights were done by me in person aside from the bottom bracket. Hit me up with any questions you've got and I'll try to get answers or chime in with your own thoughts!
- Warranty: 2 years on the battery, 30 months on all other motor systems
- Battery 250 weight: 3.1lbs

- Estimated charge time: 3.5 hours
- Estimated range: 20 to 50 miles
- Motor weight: 4.2lbs
- Combined battery and motor "Drivepack": 7.3lbs
- Bottom Bracket gearbox: 2.8lbs
- Motor power: 250 watts nominal, 400 watts peak
- Peak torque output: 60 newton meters
- Display details: Fazua Remote, Fixed, Color LED, Buttons: Up, Power, Down, (Top LED Illuminates in Red or Yellow to Communicate an Error, See Dealer, Illuminated Green when paired with optional Bluetooth smartphone app)
- Display readouts: Battery Level (10 Bars), Assist Level (Green BreezeMode, Blue RiverMode, Pink RocketMode)
- Pedal assist details: (Measures Rear Wheel Speed, Pedal Cadence, and Pedal Torque in Real Time, Green BreezeMode 75% 125 Watts, Blue RiverMode 150% 250 Watts, Pink RocketMode 240% 400 Watts)

I love the Fazua concept. I'm still fit enough at 60 to get by with 250 watts. The simplicity and light weight is great. Hoping more mainstream manufacturers sign up.

Don't forget 400 watt peak. Plus it has 60 n.m of torque vs. about 40 n.m with a hub motor.

the black pepper update (free) brings it to 300watt and max cadence of 110. Really good power. Plus you could carry a second or 3rd battery. There is a extended bottlecage that does that.

Nice job as always, thanks. I recently purchased a Bulls E-Core Di2 FS 27.5+ (9/2019) and love it. You often bring up the lack of shift sensing as a downside and I didn’t really understand why. I mean, on a non-electric bike you don’t have that and all I have to do is back off peddling a little and I’m golden. It’s different on an eBike. I find that on my Bulls even if I back off peddling it often does not matter, especially in higher assist mode. It takes the motor anywhere from 1/2 to 1 second (my estimate) to disengage so unless I want to stop peddling and wait for a second to shift, the motor will still be engaged and shifting will be rougher than I want. Not as rough as if I was actually applying pressure on the peddles though. Other than that ... I love the bike. It handles amazingly well and helps me get to the summit quickly. The electronic shifting is very cool and works great. I can go from 8th gear to 5th, 3rd, 1st or any gear with a single press of a button ... WOW! I can enjoy the ride up and down. I take on trails that I would not attempt before.

In your next reviews of these, can you test hill climbing? About the only time many of us are biking when we want electric help is going up long or steep hills. Thanks.

very nice review! I think it might be worth noting the legal constraints of electric bikes in Germany which are only allowed to support you up to 25kph and have to uncouple above (you can get bikes which go to 45kph but those need license, insurance, helmet etc. they don't count as bicycle anymore). This explains a little further the importance of the complete uncoupling with the Fazua motors, which promise to be more comfortable at higher - and unsupported speeds.

It's nice solution, but 250Wh (while 630Wh is really becoming standard these days), impossibility to charge it on bike and that 2 steps power on process... kinda letdown in the end. I don't mind the lower torque output. Anyway nice review, thanks.

Good on road bikes where riders want to have some assist here and there. Also when enjoy riding in team with classical road bikes just having motor plus battery removed w/o the need of a second expensive road bike. Brand name Fazua (fa' zua) is from bavarian dialect and means drive on or go go go.

I have a LOOK e-765 and love it. You do not need to push the power button on the battery motor pack, you turn on the unit using the controller on the handle bar. Also, the bike comes with a dummy cover for the battery pack where you can remove the battery and put the dummy on the empty tube and clip it into the bike eliminating the weight of the battery and ride the bike as a non assisted bike.

Will it connect to Garmin for power, cadence speed readout? On the lowest setting say putting out 125W and climbing a decent hill and you're putting out 125W does it mean there's 250W ?? Thanks for review

I love that it's not obvious that these are e-bikes from a distance. I assume removing the motor returns it to the pedaling difficulty of a regular bike? I'd buy that.

I recently rode a $9000 Orbea Rise M10 and then the Wildflow from Bulls on sale at nearly half the price. Guess which one I bought. They have about the same torque and the Bulls may be a bit lighter. I actually think the Wildflow is better looking. However its now 2022 and its already discontinued what a shame. As far as limited battery capacity goes I will be finding out soon enough. My last ebike had a 635 wh battery but was at least 20 lb heavier and for easy bike trail and road work I never used more than half of it after 2.5 hrs or riding so I am betting the Wildflow will be enough for me. Not to mention it is so light and rolls so easily with the narrower 2.35 tires that it is very nice to ride without assist so I could get home without power much easier than a lot of bikes with these huge fat tires..I was delighted to find a dealer that still had some of these bikes available.

Has anyone experienced a rattle sound emitted from the Fazua drive pack latch when riding over bumpy terrain? Or if you lift and drop the front end of the bike to the pavement....rattle, rattle, rattle?

Court, I just put in a good word at Juiced for you concering you doing an updated Ripcurrent review and probably all their other new ebikes as well. They have a new CCX, the Scrambler and the brand new Scorpian e-moped they just introduced. They now have a giant warehouse near their main office also in Chula Vista and they REALLY have an amazing service department now. A TON of things have changed at Juiced and they have many new employees. I hope you push this re-review with them.

I really like the concept of a lightweight e-mtb with a light assist motor. It would be great to see a full review of the Bulls Wild Flow. The Bulls Bikes USA website doesn’t list the Wild Flow. When will this bike be available in North America? Thanks

@FAZUA
@FAZUA 4 жыл бұрын
Hi pcranebmw, there is a release button on top of the downtube. If you press this button you can take out the battery and drivepack. It´s even easier to put the motor and battery back into the downtube. Just press it against the remaining hole and oce you hear a "click" the locker fixated everything.

I had the Fazua Evation system on my bike for 3 years. Loved it! However, I left my bike out one night and there was a heavy downpour. Next day, the system would not turn on. Ran the diagnostics and sent in to Fazua. They said, your battery is ruined. I was mad that they would not replace it (it was a year out of warranty), and they only said, it's got some rating for moisture exposure whose number I can't remember and that should not have happened. Well, it did happen! I'm sorely disappointed. And this happened when my bike was upright, not moving. What would have happened had I been riding in equally drenched conditions!?

The remote is pretty ugly. I would highly recommend to choose the newest option wich is having the controls on the frames power button. But I guess these Fazua Bikes are kind of cool. I even like the empty cover that comes in when you decide to drive it without the motor (bikepark for example). They designed it as a storage and thats what you want in a bikepark. Just some parts like a tube, some tools and a tiny pump. You don't need a backpack for that. And if you are going for your home trails or some enduro stuff you can decide to run the same bike as an ebike. I am just a bit shocked about the noise when you stop padeling. It was like "now something is broken". I have a BULLs dealer next door and will defenetly have a closer look at this. The Lapiere EZESTY AM 9.0 is btw. maybe the right bike for those who are looking for a bit more travel (150mm)

Henrik P cool, I’d love to hear your thoughts after a test ride or two. I agree that the Remote fX (downtube mounted) is more convenient. I like that both have Bluetooth and work with the app... but it didn’t appear that you can adjust assist with the app? I also got the impression that the Downtube Cover (empty cargo holder part) costs extra? I asked how much but the Fazua rep didn’t know.

Thanks for the review, Court. Seeing a lot of Fazua systems now on bikes here in Ireland and Europe. Unfortunately for us, max assisted speed is limited to 25kph by law. You can of course derestrict, but not to be advised as it will invalidate your warranty and could lead to liability issues if you were involved in a crash.

JR Fortenberry I haven’t spent enough time with it to make a call... I like how it basically gives you a acoustic and electric bike in one, but the reduced power and range are limiters for sure. To me, this drive system and battery are like a half step between normal bikes and full on ebikes. As a lightweight active guy, I actually like the system :)
