On January 8th, 2023, officers were dispatched in response to a report of an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance after being deboarded from a flight. Despite being requested multiple times, the woman refused to come out of the washroom. The woman continued to argue with the officers and was unwilling to cooperate. Soon, the woman became increasingly resistant, making it more difficult for the officers. The woman began to behave very disruptively and kicked one of the officers. Shortly thereafter, the woman was transported to jail for further processing. Even in jail, the woman remained highly uncooperative. The female was charged with public intoxication, battery upon a peace officer and resisting arrest.

I think any of the airlines could afford to provide two well trained large security guards on all their flights. The US government did not provide Air Marshalls as the public hoped they would. Flights are now the wild west with passengers fighting over paid for / assigned seats, violent drunks, insane people trying to open doors in flight. And yet... the airline execs have vacation homes , private schools, the best of everything while their cattle cars are a misery for the paying public.

They probably have that rule just for people like this. For normal, responsible adults, its perfectly fine to have a couple beers on your layover. Just don't have that 'one extra drink' that turns yourself into a problem. Its like those public intoxication laws. They're not gonna bother you if you're having a couple of beers at your bbq in the park and doing nothing wrong. Its when you make a problem of yourself, they have something to charge you with. At least, that's how it usually is/should be. People like this are ruining it for everyone.

@@suntzu94 Permanent lifetime ban from flying won't happen. There are multiple people charged for physically assaulting flight attendants during the COVID mask period and the highest ban leveled was a lifetime ban for a single airline. Even a southwest airlines woman passenger who punched a flight attendant repeatedly in the face resulting in chipped teeth and a bloody face that required stitches only received a 3-year suspension from flying commercial. All the flight attendant asked the passenger to do that instigated the attack was to wear her face mask properly (cover nose), fasten her seat belt and put her tray table up for landing.

@@abelis644 first let me correct the errors in your response. You may direct me literally, to any other place I have cut and pasted "it's literally their job". I will wait, but I won't hold my breath. Second, verbal insults are not actionable. They sure as hell don't help the case of the drunk person being arrested. But a cop's job is to be professional and not escalate when being verbally attacked. What you described, the physical assault, the spitting punching kicking hitting fighting back resisting, those are actionable by the police. And if you watch these videos, in every case the police wait until there is actionable behavior before they respond with physical force. It is LITERALLY how they are trained to do their job. So, in conclusion, drunken blather is bs. Kicking, hitting, striking, spitting, resisting, is actionable. See the difference? I know you can. Thanks for playing, bless your heart. Genuine question. I honestly don’t understand the mindset. Does it just not compute to you that someone might think that way? We call it the “happy-hour-hypoglycaemia”, observed only in people that eat absolutely nothing all day and go binge drinking at five after work (no sugary cocktails, though). This is btw the only reason a person that doesn’t suffer from diabetes gets hypoglycaemic. (If you don’t have a super-rare disease, that is)

So what was the outcome of this? I'm very curious to see how this played out. Before anyone comes for me, I have a right to my own opinion and it is probably different than yours! You don't get your rights taken from you when you are arrested. You still have civil rights and they are just using their power to control her because in their eyes she's being unreasonable. I think we need to reevaluate how officers handle situations and train them how to redirect when faced with people like this. They did NOT deescalate the situation they made it worse which caused her to feel uncomfortable and she went into fight or flight mode. Cops are the largest gang/cult on planet earth. Just because you have a badge doesn't mean you get to manhandle me and treat me with disrespect. It is legal and allowed assault (sexual and not), harassment, MURDER, slander, bribery, extortion etc.

Not condoning this woman’s behavior, but what I find incredulous is how sad it is to see the ‘process’ police uses to deal with obviously ‘drunk’ person…and how badly they’re trained and consistently fail to deal as professionals with drunk people. They continue to bark orders; they continue to try to ‘present’ their case logically and then get involved in an unending argument with a drunk person. They then get angry…and the charges pile up on a person who has absolutely no control over their brain. What seems feasible is to simply restrain a person (legs and arms), put them on a wheelchair, transport them to the jail; let them detox, and only then talk to them…and take fingerprints and all that. Again, this woman has no sympathy from me…and should not be shown any sympathy by the justice system, but let us train our police to deal with these situations professionally. The constant argument with her in the bathroom stall was torturous. Let us train our police personnel not to get caught in arguing with an obvious drunk person. Once a decision is made to arrest, then let’s not do anymore discussion…and restrain the person so that person, in their drunken state, is not harming the officers…and themselves…physically and legally!

She wasn't "obviously drunk" or someone would have mentioned it. She was more likely on drugs or mentally altered in some other way.

I would be so fired if I was a cop. When she called the cops a piece of sh**, I would have said "At least I'm not a drunk, handcuffed loser in the back of a squad car. And I can still fly on a plane."😂
