I found the best way to achieve these dreams is to build them with your own hands step by step. It's so much better than a dream that happens overnight. Start with something...anything. Get a chassis with a bad engine and trans. Start slowly sourcing components. Before you know it you are dropping the engine in and going for the first test crank. God I love those moments...priceless

Doesn't actually have to be an LS7 tho. You could just build a 427. Really it doesn't have to be that big a displacement. If you don't care for a manual all that much you could do a forged 383 or 408 with the right heads cam intake combination and the right stall and it'll outshine a manual heads cam factory 427 vette depending on what car it's sitting in and the factor of stall but with a stall for race purposes, 3.91 would be a bit much unless the trans gears are what matches a Z06 which is really long gears but even then, it could be somewhat less necessary with a stall. Usually a gear change is based around 1/4mile goals

@@MrDerekRobinson manual is way more fun I'm talking a manual 427 all day long. I want my rides to be street cars so the street is where I focus their performance and how they drive and it's 1000x more fun and enjoyable with a manual and you can be right with autos in your typical roll race street encounter if you can bang gears.

@@midnight347 yeah with a good driveline set up like clutch master cylinder and transmission your some what right. May not be as consistent but definitely more fun. I don't have a manual any more but my auto is way easier and I still can control the up and downshifts without the foot work and the auto shifter in my G8 is right where a manual traditional is, so for me personally, I have the best of both worlds. Paddle shifters on the other, not my cup of tea

@@MrDerekRobinson that helps being able to control what gear it's in but there is nothing likr controling 3 pedals and rowing a true manual gearbox its just an unmatched feeling. Auto has an advantage at the drag strip mostly because of the easier and more consistent launches but for a street car you aren't leaving much on the table performance wise going manual (this is all assuming you can row gears like a boss, most can't lol) in that scenario. It all depends on what you want the car to do and what you're using it for and other factors. To me being mostly street cars I have and not having alot of congested traffic around where i am its a no brainer I even want my daily to be a manual which it is. If I lived somewhere in a city with tons of stop and go driving that may be different but in my situation for what I use my cars for and where I live give me the manual every single time.

Against an auto or DCT, it's the gear changes that will kill you. In my C6Z, sometimes I'm better off staying in a higher gear at lower speeds just to avoid that shift. Plus the LS7 has a decent amount of torque in a fairly light car...

It’s a 600whp 7L open motor V8 weighing 700-800lbs less than a bolt on GTR. It did what it was supposed to do, which is keep it a close race lol

Why would you start the race at 6,000rpm when you're shifting at 7 lol.... 40mph roll is in the entry point of the powerband in 2nd. Idk just seems like it wouldn't help out, jumping out a half a car distance only to lose it to shift into 2nd lol

The stupid reverse lockout in these cars is shit and the throw from 4th to 5th is a little awkward/long. I already replaced the reverse lockout on my c5z with the updated part and I can STILL hit reverse when going to 5th. Smh..

Weight is less a factor in roll racing, the gtr weigh comes with an advantage it's a AWD car, prob the reason he gets the jump, also AWDs inherently have more rotating mass that creates loss of HP and TQ through the drivetrain, plus gearing is a big factor

And don't forget the torque interruption when the manual Vette is shifting. Meanwhile the GT-R's DCT's near instant shifts are probably helping it keep up for a while. If the GT-R had a manual the Z06 would have finished it much earlier.

@@XV3LimpiadorXV3 that splitter is not stock on the z06. I have a 2007 z06 and got a splitter for the zr1 and it obviously creates so much down force that drag racing the car with it slows you down. Tremendously

Clearly you would of spun out of control. On street tires with a car with that much HP you have to start in a higher hear than normal at a 20-30 mph roll, a low gear at a low mhp in this car would have just spun the tires

Wut? He shifted that thing damn near perfectly. The 2-3 and 3-4 gates are a pain in the nuts so he missed the 3-4 on the first roll. It pulled like a freight train.
