FE10 HM 0% growths chapters 1-P to 1-2 (with commentary)

This is chapters 1-P to 1-2 of my FE10 HM 0% growths playthrough, commentated by me. They are completed in 6, 4, and 5 turns, respectively.
A rigged LTC classically 5-turns 1-P if Micaiah gets a 3% crit on the first bandit, allowing Edward's actions to happen 1 turn sooner. It requires more Wrath crits, as Leonardo barely gets to participate. 4 turns is technically possible if every outcome occurs in the player's favor, which generally requires editing the game's RNG values in memory.
I mentioned that Micaiah is OHKO'd by physical enemies after 1-1 but I think the soldiers that attack Leonardo in 1-2 also don't OHKO her. Either way, she stops surviving enemy attacks real quick!
Stat checks in 1-P:
Bandit L5: Rolls 8 spd instead of 9 spd - pretty likely

Here’s a cute little game for this run: Predict the next video’s thumbnail! Each video’s thumbnail and end screen will feature FE: Cipher art of a unit who played an important role in that particular video. 1. They don’t necessarily have to be the MVP of the map, so usually there are multiple options to choose from. 2. Only playable characters will be used in thumbnails; no enemy-only or story-only characters. 3. I will only use a character ONCE. So no future thumbnail will feature Micaiah. I may choose not to use a chapter's MVP so that I can save them for a future chapter's thumbnail. Leave your predictions in the video comments!

I'm gonna throw out a predict that 3-6 Thumbnail has Leonardo because unironically it's his best map and There just aren't that many good units in the Daien Army. Also: 1-3 Kurthnaga 1-4 Sothe 1-5 Volug 1-6-1 Jill 1-6-2 Tauroneo 1-7 Tormod 1-8 Rafiel 1-9 Black Knight 1-E Nailah

Thats crazy that the AI doesnt detect that the archer +fighter can kill Micaiah and would rather not be countered and attack Nolan

I thought Edward would get 2 shotted by the bandits but I guess that's not *quite* yet. Gotta love the Wrath odds (much much worse in JPN RD) So so tense to have the upper cluster in 1-1 while Nolan/Leonardo are about to die.

The audio in the Prologue clear seems a bit off, but the other chapters are good. Cool clears, looking forward to seeing who gets the boosters. I think its gonna be Volug but I'm not sure.

Do special skills affect enemy AI? Sorry if you said it in the video and I missed it, but I'm curious as to whether something like Wrath would make the AI avoid attacking a unit they'd otherwise want to chip.

So generally skills that are not Provoke, Shade, and Stillness don't affect targeting priority, to our best knowledge. Daunt does, insofar as simply modifying enemy hit rates (there's otherwise nothing special about Daunt). Enemies also don't take into account Wrath or Resolve, probably because in JP FE10 they weren't guaranteed to activate if their HP thresholds were met.

Is thhere a reason you made Micaiah use Sacrifice on Edward in Chapter 2? As far as I can tell there is nothing to gain by leveling up Micaiah.

Excellent question! We didn’t cover this because it was too abstract: There’s a chance that the fighter whom Edward crit is still alive by that turn (sometimes he stays wedged below that pillar), so the heal allows Edward to take another hit.

It's so that I can use the fast enemy phase trick every turn. If you end turn while the cursor is moving quickly, it makes the camera move faster on enemy phase.

@@missilesilmi7326 No it's only for FE9 and FE10. Funnily enough I discovered it by accident in FE10 awhile back and now it's a critical time save in all of the speedrun categories

I find it amazing how the 7 turn of 1-P has 0 chance of death and has >80% chance of success while 6 turning it is such a clownfiesta (and don't get me started on 5 turning it, 4 turning it is reserved for Toffee) how do you get the axe fighter to go after edward? Annoyingly he kept attacking nolan in some of my tests :( cool strat with shoving the stupid fighter, for some reason I didn't think about that, that would have been a lot easier (and was the reason I couldn't find the handaxe in my clear So this was amazing to find out, if edward is at C swords and level 5 the enemy movement order is different, this allows for a different opening on 1-2 which has better chance of success, dondon couldn't do that because his 1-P clear prevents edward from getting C swords in time.

Are you talking about 1-1 or 1-2 for the fighter going after Nolan? TBH I've never encountered that (or maybe it happened like once on a reset) but depending on what turn you're talking about, it may have to do with Nolan dodging the soldier once, which is required to spend an action getting the Hand Axe.

I was wondering whether you were going to rig the 3% crit with Micaiah in 1-P - I found that accidentally when starting up my first-ever HM run of this game not long ago. I guess it's too much to ask for in a map that's already relying so much on Wrath.

Yeah so something which I find funny is that the 5-turns that I've found on video (Chiki's and ruadath's) either skip the first turn entirely or load from a memory card suspend save that already has the 3% crit rigged. There was a forum post from awhile back where one of them claimed to have paid their little cousin to reset the console until they got the 3% crit.

Eh even 0% growths Miccy can ohko with Sothe's support some knights with Thani lol, and with growths she has much better chances of doing or being extremely close to do so

the problem is that getting Thani is slow because is so out of the way and also guarded by two enemy units. Getting it would probably lose several turns, especially if you ALSO want the energy drop, pretty much forcing you to leave it behind. And base Micaiah without Thani is .... well, I guess she gives Sothe support boni, lol.

@@mysmallnomanto be fair, I would consider Micaiah a unit that is "pretty hard to assess in terms of usefulness". I do think she is good (outside of stuff like 0% LTC of course) because she fulfills unique niches throughout the game that cannot really be replicated by anyone else in the same way, but she certainly has a lot of flaws as well. Still, very interesting and cool unit concept. -also, if you are crazy like me, you just grind her up for lategame, give her resolve and miracle and throw her into the enemies. It works ... much better than it has any right to, lol-

I mean it's kind of a weird point to bring up a discussion from a recent Reddit thread and qualify that Micaiah can OHKO an uncommon enemy type IF she has a support in range from a much better and more mobile unit and IF her growths keep up past 1-3, but okay In 0% growths the only armors that she ever OHKOs (with Sothe support) are the ones in 1-3, and you''ll see in the next chapter why that wasn't ever in consideration. Even with growths her combat is almost worthless; in fact I could even argue that she will be more useful in this 0% growths run than in vanilla runs because her chip damage is actually needed.
