It's not only that the content of the video is great as usual and that the level of explanation is so much on point. Or that dondon is casually dropping a video on YT after a whole year of silence (so good to have him back!). Or his humor and all the little jokes. Or that he is even teasing to upload his former runs here as well. But can we point out how great the video editing is (as nobody seems to have done so) and how much work it might have been? It's not that I'm writing comments often, but this time I really have to say thanks for such a fantastic video! Keep up that amazing work, even if we have to wait patiently for future ones. :)

The drafting process reminds me a lot of when I read about game theory with stuff like the prisoners dilemna and stag hunt scenarios, where you use the optimal strategies to predict other players' decisions

Dondon's been my favourite youtuber of recent, I regularly check in to see if there's a new upload and have re-watched his FE6&7 runs several times now. I've never played Thracia or Marth's games, hence have tried avoiding Dondon's runs of them until I someday get around to playing them. I watch enough draft races didn't know that the rules varies on the host in his party to keep things interesting but some poor soul may not know what's going on

Are there situations in some draft races where it's actually optimal to intentionally perform a banned action/use an undrafted unit and just eat the penalty, due to the banned action saving more time than the penalty adds? Or are the penalties generally so severe that breaking the rules basically puts you out of the race unless everyone else breaks the rules as well?

Having only done a single (and much more casual) draft run of Conquest I wasn’t quite sure why anyone would feel unprepared to take part in the event. Having now watched the video (and assuming everyone is playing to win) I can definitely see why now.

I've never played FE6 and barely know anything about it. Going by what was said in this video, since all Dondon's are really prepared for it, I go for Gold Chain qonqon151. He is a risk taker but his knowledge of the game allows him to make the most of it. Big risk big rewards baby, let's gooooooooooooo!

This is a great vid. Question: Why doesn't Garret work as a left Hero killer in your "denial pick" example? I don't know the exact calcs, but he should at least have some crit on the Hero, especially if you can get Killer Axe in 17I, and if hit is an issue recruiting Geese for Swordreaver shouldn't cost too much time.

This felt like watching a game theoretical analysis of a draft race. Under the assumption that all 4 players have perfect information and the same, known playstyle, there seems to be a drafting order that is unique up to the characters that are interchangeable (like Chad and Astolfo). Nobody has any insentives change their picks, as this would result in them potentially getting screwed over, so this pick order is essentially a Nash equilibrium. One thing I'm still questioning is whether player 1 picking one of the cavaliers first is in any way viable. You mentioned that player two is basically forced to pick Milady due to the risk of players 3 and 4 picking the two warp users and ruining your draft. But to my understanding, this should also apply to player 1. And if that is true, your playstyle is essentially forced upon you from the moment you are assigned your place at the draft table. Players 1 and 2 will run a flying carry and players 3 and 4 will run a cavalier carry. You are free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I really enjoy high-level gameplay discussion of Fire Emblem but it's not something that's common in FE fan creations compared to discussion about characters/story. 2:30 I know that you don't play Fates, but I don't recall what makes Corrin less essential to beating the game than Eirika/Ephraim/Marth, at least enough to consider her (kind of) essential relative to the FE8 lords.

I'd love to see this for Awakening yes you can brake the game faster with your units but I'd love to see peoples thoughts about it

5 month old video, but I believe bonbon might have made a mistake in his drafting strategy. Based on the characterization in the video, there is no expected time difference between Alan and Lance, but Saul saves a minute vs Niime. If bonbon first picked Saul, dondon would be forced to pick his preferred cav and Niime, bonbon could then pick up the 2nd cav and be (theoretically) a minute ahead of dondon.
