Ether is tame in terms of damage when it comes to inhalants. There's a reason ot was popular for anesthesia, much better safety profile than chloroform or cyclopropane.

I know they make it look so powerful in movies but I had always heard that it takes 5-10 min of uninterrupted Chloroform huffing to render an adult human unconscious? Does it have any psychoactive effects? And yes, you are correct about ether. Back in the 90s my friends and I would have ether races; we’d all stand at the same starting point, huff the ether, and then see who could make it to the finish line first (which was only about 20 ft away). Good times!
