her tanking ability is simultaneously the sweetest and saddest thing in the fucking world. it makes me genuinely emotional. the player, if they’ve kept her in their party long enough to bond with her, is probably the only person who’s ever shown her any kind of decency or compassion, and that means so much to her that she’s willing to die to protect them. like, she can’t be more than ten years old. she’s three apples tall. she’s the size of a sauce packet. she’s this small 🤏. and here she is SACRIFICING HERSELF to protect YOU, and yet there are still people who delight in selling her to that stupid cat! you can just get a claymore from an empty scroll and have a cool sword AND a daughter! skill issue if you ask me if you have to trade one for the other.

Whenever I play the game there's always a spot in my party reserved for her, I'd feel bad leaving her alone in that cage

The little girl was honestly the mvp in my a ending playthrough along with black orb and the mind regen ring i had her go for headshots every turn since she does no damage so she might as well, and a suprising number of fights were just cahara doing a distraction dance while my 7 year old assassinates them

If I may instill some hope. If you rush Legard and do ending C, you will see the girl in outside the dungeon if she is in your party. Meaning that by doing ending C you can actually save the girl from her horrible fates.

Several times the girl saved me from a deadly blow, but she sacrificed herself, so every time after I just sat there thinking, "I won, but at what cost?" before reverting save. Therefor the girl is one of those followers that you save for when you're confident you can protect her, otherwise she just ends up being a tragic meat shield.

As a slightly morbid note, it used to be the case that trying to merge with the girl in a Sylvian circle would instantly have you burst into flames like Nash'rah does. A later patch simply removed the prompt altogether.

The girls life isn’t *that* bad. Not everyone was raised with a roof over their heads, a room of their own (cage), and esteemed future prospects!

Another use for the doll that apparently no one noticed, is that you can use it to unequip otherwise non-unequippable accessories. When you interact with the doll and give it to the girl, she will equip it regardless of whether she has an unremovable accesory or not. That's how I got her to unequip the Ring of the Still-Blood after noticing it couldn't be removed.

The girl's life is literally meant to be sacrificed in a certain way, sad

She’s a great party member if you are playing as anyone other than Enki since you can teach her Combustion, Black Orb, and Loving Whispers through Scrolls and then also control where her attacks go unlike Ghouls, Skeletons, or Moonless…

I know this is more late game(unless you find an empty scroll) but the girl is most effective with a black witch soul. She may not be able to do much physical damage, but with guaranteed poison on every hit you can quickly rack up massive damage on multiple body parts. Gives her attacks more purpose

Played the game recently, I'm just so sad... she deserves better. There's so many people and places tempting me to give her up, she's so meek and putting her life and trust on you yet I was holding in dear life protecting her to hope she would make it out alive and have a nice loving family and people around her in the end... :(

When I watched a friend play, the girl came out of the cage without any legs to stand on. It was very odd. They collected all souls and went into the golden temple before going back to fetch her and get the god of fear and hunger ending.

I've only ever played 1 run of Fear and Hunger. Finding out that the girl doesn't start with erophobia at all times is mindblowing. I thought it was a conscious narrative decision the devs made.

Fast attack and Black Orb were true Godsend skills to teach the girl on my first playthrough. Thankfully a fear of magic did not backfire when casting the orb. Blessed party member.

I'd love to have some fun Role Playing by starting out with different skills or equipment to fit a particular backstory, or just being able to test out some creative new classes to start the game with (could even be great for challenge runs)! First time I took the girl to thr void I taught her all the offensive magic I could find. I was playing D'arce with an eastern sword crit build, had Cahara as a healer and Ragna as a tank. I literally just made a Final Fantasy party by accident lol

tbf it probably wasn't that bad growing up in the dungeon. Before legarde showed up with the cube of the depths, it was a normal high security prison, meaning she probably got taken care of correctly. the fact that she's in a cage, locked away in an office, instead of in a prison cell seems pretty telling to me : as they felt themselves transforming into the deformed guard, the person looking after her locked her in the cage in that room so she'd stay safe, making sure the monsters from the dungeon couldn't get to her.

That's why you need protection even if it's a wet dream

I never save after she dies. Also I have a theory that she is canonically supposed to learn "Needle worm". This would explain GOFAH's "Body needles" attack. It comes out of nowhere so a plausible background for it is that it's an evolved version of "Needle worm". I was like "Yo why is she pin-pricking me? This is so random."

Even in Termina I get the feels when I use the sigil of the god of Fear and Hunger. It feels like being able to be with her again for a short time.

Just got the A ending in this insanity. Gauntlet...is interesting - with Dash there are certain spike trap patterns (specifically the second set of square room spikes) that just seem to stack damage against me, I must be hitting weird lingering hitboxes because it looks like they're down but oh well - so I usually just run through the whole thing without caring since they only bring you to 1 hp, and then heal right before begging Lizard Mage for an elixir before killing it, and again just before the boss (I got crushed by the boulder my first try through it trying to go all the way up, I guess it just spawned on top of me after passing the second passage cuz I didn't even see it, my dude just died, so I went down the next time I made it there and went through the poison pot area - second attempt I actually died to the pendulums LOL). Took the Fear and Hunger God on my first try (all of the bosses were pretty easy to be honest, but at that point I had Miasma (Le'Garde), Eastern Sword (Cahara - purified as I killed the Spirit when it initially attacked with Black Orb, takes about 3 turns), Blue Sin (D'arce), White Angel Soul (Cahara), Charm of the Yggaegesu (Le'Garde), Ring of Wraiths (D'Arce), and Blood Golem/Pheromone combo to replace The Girl (all bought with praying to Sylvian and using Soul Orbs - didn't really use Blank Scrolls this run aside from getting Alchemilla 1 since I never found it and had like 9 red and blue herbs - I also used it to get Blood Portal. Got Black Orb from Necronomicon.) + I got both of her favored items, so the only attacks the God ever got off was during her final form, one Stare which I luckily won the coin toss on since I don't really know her attacks, plus she poisoned and burned the Golem. Only needed to heal the Golem once. She had no chance. The only New God I failed on was Valteil, once (not to mention the statue puzzle took me a while to figure out). Well, kinda - he nailed my MC with Hurting (cuz I missed a couple attacks) for a limb and I just reloaded. Hardest fights were the damn Skin Granny, and of course the Crow Mauler (if he doesn't miss, otherwise he's easy). Haven't done the other optionals like Iron Shakespeare or 2 Headed Crow Mauler (forget that) and so forth, and probably won't. Man, so that's ending E and A so far. Might reload my Ending A Save before I sacrificed Moonless for The Girl, and go for the Ascension/Yellow King C ending with the Doggo. After that I might move on and take on Termina. It's not so bad once you get to end-game, but holy shit was this one tough to get into. It was very difficult for me to look past the coin toss mechanic which almost made me quit (I still hate it). The atmosphere and lore etc. is what kept me coming back, and I'm glad I did.

I love the phase 4 of GOFAH, it's one of my favorite designs in the game. But when I think of commissioning some fanart of that, my brain just bluescreens. Pretty much! The more I look at her the more I struggle to describe what I'm seeing. The main issue is at the lower half. Like are those thicc limbs supposed to be three-finger hands, or raptor-like claws? What's that dark "cape" between her legs? Looks vaguely like the sweeping tail of a bird, but like, made of ripped, drooping skin. And what is that segmented brownish ribbon supposed to be again? I'm trying to stay accurate to the original but it ain't easy.

must love,very precious being. i was sad for her ending and knowing that it was cannon. at the same time,I'm a little happy,she might've shedded away her humanity,lost her understanding of her own memory and ascended to rival even the big bullies(old gods). Now,she won't get treated like used to. She might've been cursed to loneliness,eternal damnation as her very essence is from the God of the Depths. It was indeed tragic.
